Visited this summer with my husband, daughter and parents. I had to DRAG my husband away after some rock hounding and lots of talking with Karen and her sweet Mink. So cool, you can really see how it may have been to be a miner and what a hard life it was. The views are breath taking. Do not miss the Last Chance Mine!

I had to wrangle friends to take Bachelor Loop rather than heading directly to Lake City. It was Aspen time and he just knew he had a better plan. But I cajoled him into taking this marvelous, historical trip. He and his wife thought it was the highlight of our trip! They were fascinated, not only by the mine and its tale, but by Jack himself. And the vista! Oh my! We hit it just right to see the splendor of the aspens!

A very interesting story about how the current owner acquired the mine, and all that he is doing to restore the mine and preserve the mine for people to see and learn from. They have a gift shop that currently look like an outdoor thrift meet. Probably the way it would have been a 100 years ago. But it is very nostalgic. They have many fossils for sell, and are reasonable on their prices. Do some research on the mine before you go, and supplement your knowledge with their stories.

Love visiting & talking with Jack, the owner of Last Chance Mine. He is very knowledgable & works hard every year on restoring the mine. I was surprised at how much progress he has made since last year. Everyone is welcomed & greeted with gratitude. Since the restoration of the mine is done through donations & the sale of merchandise ( most of it from the mine) & made by the hands of the owner. There's also rockhounding & you can find some beautiful pieces. Looks like next year, the mine will finally be open for public tours next year. Cannot wait to see that fabulous amethyst vein. Looking forward to next year already. Thank you Jack!!!!!

I don't recall the woman who greeted us, but she was amazing - she was well informed and so cute with the little boys we saw visiting - cannot wait to go back to see this mine open for tours next summer

Really a great experience and educational visit. Jack, the owner is a good people person, makes you feel right at home. My family and friends go every summer. Love introducing new people to this attraction. Listed as the #2 attraction in Creed and should and will be #1.Jack also makes some beautiful jewelry during the off season for sale to support his continued improvements.

When visiting Creede, the Last Chance Mine is well worth the stop when exploring Bachelor Loop. Jack will fill you in on the history of the mine and how he came to acquire the property and his plans for restoration. We had the pleasure of staying overnight in one of the quaint, rustic cabins. We enjoyed a glorious sunset over the mountains, the wood burning stove kept us toasty warm all night and then we were awakened by a breathtaking sunrise. Our overnight adventure at Last Chance Mine was a once in a lifetime, unique experience.

Last Chance was a great time! My girlfriend and I had a nice rustic cabin, great views on the deck, and found some amethyst while rock collecting! Very relaxing and peaceful within just a few minutes from Creede. Can't wait to go back when the underground mine tour is open!

Well worth the stop while driving the Bachelor Loop! The history of this place is amazing. It is very family and pet friendly. We loved being able to actually do some rock hounding and even came away with some beautiful amethyst. The cabins are so cute and the museum is awesome. Everyone there was extremely nice and helpful. We will definitely go back!

Four of us (parents, daughter and son in law) both made our second stop at the Last Chance Mine above Creed, CO yesterday. It was a much fun the second time as it was the first. First of all, if you are lucky enough to meet Jack, the owner of the place you will be treated to a real character. The views there are beyond spectacular and Jack's place is lots of fun to explore. He has some "drop in" cabins that look as if they would be fun to stay in as well as a mine he is trying to open and also all the rocks and minerals you might be interested in viewing. Jack makes jewelry from various rocks and semi precious stones which not only are beautiful, their prices seem to be reasonable. We highly recommend a drive up Bachelors Loop Road if you are ever in Creed. You won't be disappointed.

We found this jewel while touring Bachelor's Loop in Creede late in the day. We brought our grandsons back the next day/150 mile round trip/so they could gather rocks. We had a picnic at 10,500' with a gorgeous view. There are two rustic cabins where we plan to stay the next time we're in the area. Jack has something great going on here. Can't wait till it's finished.

Me and my best friend took a road trip and found the last chance mine the people there were great and very informative. They work solely out of their own pocket. They offer hospitality like no other a rarity nowadays. I lost my wallet and they returned it to me and went out of their way to do it I have gratitude to the fullest for that. People like that are hard to come by. Not only that I find out he is also a famous actor jack is amazing.. Thank you jack for everything.. Your new friend Cass Cooper from Michigan.

Jack takes you on a tour of the mining history of Creede. He has a vision for development in the future, too! He has room to stay in which are a historical statement in themselves. Look at the museum, too.

When we arrived we were greater by the owner and told the story of how he acquired the mine and his mission to preserve it. We arrived later in the evening and not knowing Bachelor Loop that well wanted to beat the darkness. Will definitely revisit when I am back. The work and efforts to preserve the mine amazing.
