The old photos and written histories that tell the story of the Galloping Goose rail are very thorough and fun to learn about, if in the neighborhood it is worth checking out.

The Galloping Goose is an oddity on railroad tracks. Worth checking out. The museum is slowly developing into an educational and fun experience for all ages.

I loved the old locomotives, pictures, and the huge model railroad display which featured towns, bridges, a railyard, etc. with several model trails constantly running. Fascinating. Not crowded so one can have a leisurely visit.

Being interested in all things to do with railroads, a small group of us visited the Rio Grande Southern Railroad Museum in Dolores, Co. Marvellous. The volunteers made us very welcome, and no effort was spared to tell us of the history of the line and it's demise in 1952, and then the building of the replica station building in 1952. Entrance is free, and the museum is very interesting with a large selection of historic artefacts and pictures. Outside sits the restored Galloping Goose No. 5. This most unusual vehicle was built in 1933 and fully restored to working order in 1998. We were shown around this amazing vehicle, both outside and inside. Finally on enquiring if anything else of the railroad survives, we were directed to the restored water tower that exists at Rico. The museum is well worth a visit with the volunteers making us most welcome.
