After spending a couple of days on the ski slopes in Breckenridge, my family decided to do something different. We ended up going on a 2 hour horseback ride at the American Safari Ranch in Fairplay, CO. Adam was our guide and thanks to him and his wonderful cowboy personality we had an absolutely fantastic time. The ranch is just 30 minutes from Breckenridge, easy to find, and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this attraction to anyone spending time in the area. Ask for Adam - I don't think you could find a better guide.

Five of us girls went to the Ranch in mid January to ride! Adam our guide was so much fun! They matched our riding abilities to our horses and they did a perfect match for all of us. My sister Betsy was the least experienced, so they put her on Babe. Well, Babe decided she would be calm for Betsy... but a bit too calm to the point that she wouldn't move at times. So on our ride back to the ranch, Adam let Betsy ride his horse Dallas! This considerate change made Betsy's day and we all had a great time! Adam was fun and helpful. He knew the perfect spot for a group picture with the beautiful mountains behind us! I'd highly recommend the AMERICAN SAFARI RANCH for riding horses with Adam as your guide. Even in the winter!

Horseback riding was at American Safari Ranch was excellent. Unlike other horseback riding trips you actually get to ride your horse and not just have your horse follow the guide's horse, so you are actually riding side by side instead of a line. Views were amazing also and Adam was a great guide.

Went horseback riding on Thanksgiving day and it could not have been better. The landscape is incredible, and Adam was a lovely and charming host. Highly recommend.

We visited Denver from Minnesota and thought the mountains looked amazing when we visited them in Boulder, CO but the drive to Safari Ranch was by far the most beautiful drive ever. You drive through the mountains for about an hour and it is unbelievable. Once we got to the Ranch it was so quiet and peaceful. I was a bit nervous to ride the horses because I hadn't done it in about 15 years but our guide, Adam made us feel so comfortable and in control of the horse. After riding for about a couple minutes, I felt like I had been riding for years!! We did the 2 hour tour and I wish we would have done one for the whole day (I don't know if that's an option!) but it went by soooooo fast! And the views you see are amazing. You don't just ride on trails or in a lone following a horse, you ride along side eachother or wherever you want to take your horse near the group. Our tour guide Adam was awesome at what he does and make the trip VERY worthwhile! By far the highlight of my trip!!!

I brought my 10 yr old, her friend, and my mother Nov 1 2014.. The kids had been on a horse before but not like this. By the time we were done, they were riding like they had been for years. We had Adam as our guide and he was Great! Awesome with my kiddos and and just an all around pleasant person. Scenery was beautiful and the best part was being able to just ride freely on the mountain side and not on a trail nose to tail!! Definetly will be back and for more then 2 hrs next time!

We went on an 1 1/2 hr horseback ride and wish we would have booked for longer! Great horses and beautiful scenery. Adam rode with us -- super nice guy and great with our kids (ages 11, 13, 14). Well worth the time and money. We will be back and will bring visitors here too!!

We were in the Breckenridge area in what appeared to be the off-season for a lot of area businesses, and wanted to include a horseback ride in our trip - we were so pleased to find that American Safari ranch was open for riding year-round! We went out for a two hour ride in the morning before any bad weather moved in. Adam was our guide and he was terrific! Fun, knowledgable about the area, and certainly knew the horses well. We enjoyed his company and the casual nature of the experience - certainly not a nose-to-tail guided trail ride. The owner was very friendly and made some helpful suggestions for other things we should include in our visit, since we only make it to Colorado every few years! Overall, a great experience and a unique memory made- we highly recommend!

Another great day of Horseback riding yesterday. Owner is always friendly. Adam did a great job! We live in nearby Breckenridge and have been bringing our visitors here for years. Great to ride horses without following in a single line. Great scenery and great horses.

We booked a 2 hour ride a couple of days before our vacation ended last week. The morning of our ride was gray, gloomy, chilly, and misty but we decided to ride anyway, knowing that we wouldn't get another chance. Besides, cowboys ride in all kinds of weather, right?! Due to the weather, the owner ended up sending us out and charging us for just a 1 1/2 hour ride. We were layered in hiking gear, along with raincoats and gloves. Although we had a blast we were frozen to the bone by the time we wrapped up.This was the best riding experience I've ever been on. No nose to tail riding- except for a couple of short areas that required it- we rode over plains, uphills, through the aspen. We got to trot and canter, not just walk. The views were amazing, even in the rain. I can't wait to go back, hopefully when the weather is better. Our guide was Adam, and he was friendly and laid-back, and told us a lot about the area. I was very happy with our day, even if Mother Nature did not cooperate. The website said that free lunch was offered with all rides. No mention of lunch was ever made to us when we returned from our ride- not sure if it's because we were the only two guests?- but we didn't worry about it because we just wanted to get in the car and thaw out.

My husband & I went on a two hour trail ride with one other couple (our friends) & had a wonderful time. The leaves were just starting to change & the views were spectacular. Everyone at the ranch is extremely friendly & we'd highly recommend it to anyone who's interested!
