Thank you so much for an incredible day riding! My son and I rode for 3 hours and enjoyed every minute of it! We just bought a condo in Winter Park and will continue to spread the word about this great adventure! Thanks again! Janet and Alex

I booked this some months before we went to America and the wife and I was looking forward to it, my wife being a novice and me have quiet a bit of experience on horse back made me a bit apprehensive of her being safe but I needn't of worried, Connie's husband was our guide and looked after everyone, us thinking that this was set up for the tourist was completely wrong, this was a working ranch and these cows had to be drove across the 10000 or so acres to different pastures for grazing. this will be one day we will never forget.Ian and Lynn Patterson

We enjoyed everything about our time at Rusty Spurr. The adventure starts with the drive out to the ranch, cruising thru the middle of nowhere. The owners are wonderful, kind, helpful. We were matched up with horses that matched not just what we needed (novice, afraid of heights) but matched our personality. The horses are very well behaved without being like robots. At no time were we afraid for our safety. The 2 hour ride took us up mountains, thru aspen forests, all with great views. The most surprising treat was that this is not your typical nose to butt trail ride. Soon after leaving the ranch, our guide Kevin told us to spread out, guide our horse ourselves thru the varying terrain. We felt so free. Kevin was also ready to help immediately and was a wealth of interesting information. Just a wonderful experience. A highlight of our trip to CO!

Our group consisted of (2)40+ adults and (1)21 adult. We did the Saddle and Paddle. Rusty Spurr is way off the road . . . which is great!! We were able to enjoy the beautiful Colorado mountains without hearing the road noise. Our guide, Rarity, was super. She was friendly and guided us through a beautiful landscape. She encouraged us to spread out during certain areas of the ride so we weren't nose-to-tail. Our riding experience was limited so the horses that were chosen for us to ride matched our level. Rarity gave instructions on how to direct our horses once we mounted then patiently reminded us as we were riding. After our ride we had lunch. We then drove to KODI Rafting for the second part of our package. Rafting was great also and our guide, Justin, had a great personality and was knowledgeable of the river and the sights. We hit some nice rapids - enough to get us wet a couple of times. Overall a lot of fun and we would recommend.

Rarity took us on a great trail ride, everyone was spread out and get to 'know' their horse. Much better than nose to tail trail rides, and scenery was great.

I scheduled the Cattle Drive as a fun outing while my parents were visiting from out of town. We had all been on the "nose-to-butt" trail rides before and were excited to try something different. From the start, we could tell it was going to be a great experience. All of the guides were extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. As we started off on the ride, the guides encouraged us to spread out and find our own path. Within about an hour of being on the horses, we were trotting up a hill in search of cattle (yes, I said trotted--you actually get to try this on the ride, even if you're a relative novice like me). Once the actual "cattle drive" portion started the guides provided wonderful instructions on where to ride, how to make the horse do what you want, how to encourage the cattle to move together, and what to do if a stray cattle wondered off from the herd. The guides generally stood back and let us do all the work (we had a total of 10 in our group) and it was amazing to see the cattle actually move where we wanted them to. My parents had taken one or two horse lessons before and said that, without a doubt, they learned way more on the cattle drive then they ever had with lessons. Han, Rarity, and Kevin were patient, knowledgeable teachers and all-around wonderful people. My husband and I live in the Denver-metro area and are already planning to return with our neighbors for round two. I can honestly say that we're forever ruined on the typical trial ride. We had such an amazing experience at Rusty Spurr that it's hard to imagine ever going anywhere else for horseback riding. As a final review, the facilities at Rusty Spurr were very well cared-for, the scenery was lovely, and the lunch that they served at the end of the ride was a wonderful way to cap off the experience.

This was a fantastic experience while in Colorado. We got to spread out across wide open fields, while still having an experienced guide close at hand. It's a nice mixture of trail riding, going through trees and out across open plains. All the guides were professional, cautious, and friendly. It's a bit of a drive (maybe 10 or 15 minutes) down a fairly rough road. Our car made it, but lots of recent rain had really left some rough patches. Luckily nobody had to pull us out, but be prepared!

Originally, I had booked a ride with another company, but after reading trip advisor reviews, decided to switch to the Rusty Spurr Ranch (which had been recommended by a person I spoke with in Breckenridge). Although you have to drive several miles on a dirt road to get to the stables, the ride is worth it!! The horses are so well cared for, and the staff is amazing. Rarity, our guide, helped us all feel at ease as beginner riders. She shared great information about the ranch, wildlife we passed along the way, and the surrounding area. It was truly one of the most beautiful and spectacular places I have ever seen. The two hour ride flew by and was the perfect amount of time for beginner riders (a one hour ride would have been too short for such an amazing place!) We highly recommend this activity to anyone wanting to experience the true beauty and spirit of Colorado! Thank you, Rsuty Spurr Ranch!!

Words cannot be put on paper to explain this cattle drive, we have been going since 2003 and Rusty Spur Never disappoints us, it was and always is the highlight of our trip, Hahn and Connie are the sweetest people and Hahn is a true cowboy. This is not a nose to tail, we moved cattle from one end of the ranch, over mountains, in valleys, to the final destination. Don't miss this cattle drive, my children and their friends have been talking about this for years. The lunch is amazing as well, first class operation and first class wranglers and owners. It is worth the trip, the memories last a life time...

I grew up in CA riding horses. As the years passed one could only find stables who would offer nose to tail riding. (Boring!) When we arrived in Breckenridge, CO, there was an advertisement for the Rusty Spurr (Two "R"s) Cow Camp. WWW.rustyspurr.com (866) 724-9715. They offered it ALL! Above all "CATTLE DRIVES". Something I had always dreamed of doing! At age 56 my dream had come true. The owners Han and Connie were outstanding! Their attention to detail showed in everything from the preparation of the horses to the lunch that was included in the price. Han ran the cattle drive, instructed us on how and what to do without being over bearing but very professional. His sense for safety of the riders and the livestock was paramount. 1/2 of day of FUN was enough to fulfill my bucket list. I am going to encourage everyone who wants to ride like we once did long ago to take part in this outstanding, professional, memorable adventure.Han encouraged us to "DO WHAT WE PAID FOR", RIDE and drive those cattle. We rode and drove them life "City Slickers". There was that one thing that was missing from my life and I found it on this adventure! Thank you all at Rusty Spurr Cow Camp, where riding is still an adventure. I will return and do it again! Next time, I am bringing the grandkids!Make sure you make reservations, as this has got to be the #1 thing on your bucket list!

WORTH the drive to get there. WORTH the fee. Owners Connie and Han have combined their love of horses and nature to offer guests a unique opportunity to share both. Beginner riders, my 14 year old daughter and I did the 2 hour ride. EVERYTHING about the experience was perfect.. reservation, directions, arrival, horses, wrangler's instructions - both giving us space to explore and learn and safety, the land - forest, range and horizons. I especially appreciated the care given to the horses. (Having done a few nose to tail rides where all I did was sit on the back of the horse it was nice to have a chance to actually learn more about riding. Our horses had personality, spirit and were patient with us beginners :o) Although I live in Colorado, I enjoyed learning about the history of the ranch, and the chance to appreciate Colorado's the beauty and open space. THANK-YOU Connie and Han for making it possible !

Majestic is the adjective we would describe this adventure. From the beginning calls and reservations Connie is top notch and Kevin, our guide, was just great and down to earth. They are the real deal! If you are looking for nose to butt riding on a path look somewhere else. This is the true horseback riding experience, leading your own horse through the majestic Colorado mountain range... Words do not do it justice!!! If you are thinking that it is too far away, think again... The memories and experience are truly priceless and we are not just writing that because it sounds good. My daughter, who is 11 did great and we were with another family with nine year olds.... The kids did fine and our guide Kevin was very helpful instructing them and watching them as they rode. We will be back! Also, thank you Rusty Spurr for being true to the riding experience, you guys are awesome!!! Truly magical! See pictures. FYI... We have no riding experience, none needed.

The Rusty Spurr has redefined trail rides. We only had to do nose to tail when the trail dictated. There was no set order to ride in and we all were encouraged to break our own trail. I rode with my 9 year old daughter, both of us have riding experience and have done other trail rides in the past. We loved being able to choose our own path. Our wrangler, Jake, was great at explaining where our next target destination was and how we were going to get there and then letting us go do it. We were always under his watchful eye though. Next time we go I plan on doing the private ride just so we can go more at our pace. Others in the group we rode with didn't have any riding experience and we had to keep them comfortable, which meant we only got to trot when we were catching up. Maybe that is why we stayed behind, so we could trot a little bit. :). I have to say we will be back! All of those other trail ride stables better watch out, the Rusty Spurr has redefined trail rides.

From the start, we were a difficult group to take care. The staff had no problems being patient with us and being very friendly. We couldn't decide on a date, they let us know the deadline on how soon we needed to book. The day prior to the ride, we needed to add 2 more riders; not an issue. Another big help was the fact that they allowed my 6 yr old daughter to ride solo. (Even let us trot at her request.) Once we got to the Ranch, it was all smiles and hospitality. After showing up 10 min late due to unexpected construction, they simply checked us in with no worries. All the horses were ready to go and fit each rider for their size and experience. Connie led us through the amazing scenery and was very friendly!! Had so much to share with us about the ranch, the mountains and anything else that came up. She even stopped and took pictures of our whole group. It was an amazing experience that any group would enjoy! It is worth the drive! Thanks to everyone at RSR!! sz

We have 3 kids ages 8-13 and horseback riding was on the "must do" list for our vacation to CO. We called the day before and ended up getting the time slot we wanted and our party of 5 was added to a party of 3 for our 2 hr ride. We are all beginners and 2 hrs was plenty for our backsides. We paid a little more - $65/person, than others in the area, but after reading several reviews online and on TripAdvisor, we decided you must get what you pay for with horseback riding. Our guide Kevin was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the area, and wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable with their horses and encouraged us to give our horses room and not always take the beaten path. We climbed a mountain to absolutely breathtaking views, and Kevin also took family pics of us on our horses at the top. There was no pressure to purchase photos or items at the base camp, and the couple running the operation were incredibly nice and genuinely interested in creating a positive experience for everyone. We would definitely go here again!
