We played the nine hole course at the very end of their season and had so much fun. We almost cancelled our tee time since it was only about 40 degrees and quite windy, but the sun was warm and we practically had the place to ourselves so we took our time and enjoyed the amazing views of snow capped Mt. Massive and Mt. Elbert.

Took a ride around the golf course with beautiful views the highest golf course in North America at 9,950'.

Sorry to hear you had such a negative experience. Happily, it is rare. Oddly, we pride ourselves on being relaxed and friendly - and we often hear how refreshing it is to find a golf course with a laid back approach. Are you the same player that, the day this review was submitted, took the liberty of making loop after loop on the holes we can't see without paying for the extra golf, then had the nerve to come into the clubhouse and chastise us for calling you out for what amounts to theft? We suspect that is the case. Do us, our members and our honest guests a favor - don't come back. If this is not you, then maybe you'd care to give us a second chance, with a complimentary round. I'd welcome the opportunity to change your mind.

Thanks for the kind words Amy T! We really appreciate that you made the trip over from the Vail area more than once - and that you found the course, staff and atmosphere to your liking. We work hard to deserve reviews like yours, and hope it inspires others to check out America's Highest - it is definitely one-of-a-kind!

We played the 9 hole Mt. Massive Golf Course today on our way through Leadville. What a treat! The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. We're trying to play golf in all 50 states (only 11 to go) and thought it would be neat to play the highest golf course in the Americas (maybe the galaxy?). The views of Mt. Massive and the surrounding area were impressive. The course has 2 par 5s, 2 par 3s and 5 par 4s. The staff was very nice and we were lucky enough to play with a local guy (John) who had worked at the nearby Climax mine and was fun to talk to.Give it a shot you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you guys were able to get out - we've had a rainy mid-summer, but it finally looks to be drying out and the course simply could not be in better shape.

I love to play here! Mount Massive in the background, balls flying 2 clubs farther, blind shots and very hospitable hosts! If you are playing up on 70, come down here for some real fun in the sun! Highest golf coarse in the USA! Crazy driving range, you cross the road and hit out over a field covered in sage! how do they ever get their range balls back.9 hole coarse made interesting with a few blind shots and muffin top greens!Stay on the path, do not destroy the fragile eco system!Great dogs as well. (hotdogs..:))

Beers are speedy, but you can say that about any course. Most affordable course in the high rockies.

Title says it all. As I don't golf I can't rate it as a golf course...but as a place to cross-country ski...this place ROCKS!!! Now if you're looking for an always-groomed setting...this ain't it...but generally there is a path to follow. They do groom it on occasion...I just don't know the schedule (hint...publish it on your website, please). If you prefer solitude and don't mind sometimes setting your own tracks...this is the place. Not for the timid as the weather can get brutal here in the winter...but if you're somewhat hardy and love to cross-country ski it's worth checking out Mt. Massive. It is well worth the $2 they ask for covering the grooming and winter maintenance. I'll gladly pay this every time. When they're open you can rent gear or even take a lesson...or call ahead to pre-arrange.

Being the highest golf course in the USA is enough to go see how far the ball will travel in this thin air. But the views of the two highest mountains in the backyard make it a wonderful experience. My son and I spent a few days camping in Leadville. We played golf on Saturday, September 21, with temperature in the mid 60s, caught enough fish the next day for dinner, and then watched the snow storm move in that evening. Where else can you do that? And, as other reviewers have noted, golf is very affordable at Mount Massive. Go for the game but enjoy the views.

There is nothing fancy about the Mt. Massive course but the views are as great as the staff and price. A cheap round ($45 for 9 holes w/ a cart and rental clubs) with a small driving range (~5 pads that you hit into the sagebrush) and practice green, they also offer clubs for rent which is great because I was there to run the Leadville 10K and didn't want to bring my own.The clubhouse also offers a small selection of clothing, clubs, balls, and food.

My son and I play the highest course in North America every time we visit Leadville. A raging thunder boomer hit on our third hole and we were immediately offered and given a rain check with a tee time for the next day. The rough is mountain flowers, sage and just out and out a gorgeous place to play. Barb and all the staff are just a hoot and wonderful folks to work with. Love golfing here and with "kids golf free" in the afternoons with paying adults this is a no-brainer for quality golf time with your kid. Great place and we will continue to play here anytime we are in Leadville!

Hitting a ball at 10,000+ ft is good enough, but the views, the simple, no frills course, and low costs help the enjoyment even more--you can't lose your ball here (though I have tried)...course is flat, one or two holes are extremely difficult (with a perched up green), all in all makes for a great outing , highly recommend it!

Last year we played Furnace Creek Golf Course in Death Valley. For crazy golfers these two comprise the extremes and are bucket list "musts". There are other attractions in both areas well worth visiting, borax mining, Scotty's Castle, etc., in Death Valley; miners' museum, old mining town , beautiful mountain vistas in and around Leadville. Stop at The Grill in Leadville for great Tex- Mex food.

If you want to golf cheap, this is the place that boasts the highest altitude golf course. They lent my golf clubs and they were very nice.
