Have you been to Ireland or England? If not, it might be a bit cheaper to simply come visit this winery. We believe that you will get a very similar experience. The cottages are all made from the stones pulled out of the vineyard and the logs in the cottages are from the trees on the property. Such a European charm!Brent and Karen bought the place in 1994 and currently produce about 1,200 cases per year, all estate grown with the exception of the Syrah which is purchased from local Palisades, CO.The wine, although a small collection, for our pallet’s, was simply amazing! All “A’s” with only one “B” in the group! As far as wine making, Brent says his secret is “Good grapes + clean work area + staying ‘outta the way’ = GREAT WINE!” We think that Brent has the right recipe!Visited Sep 2013.

Were visiting family in the area 2 years ago, stopped in & did a tasting & bought a few bottles to take home. Had them at Christmas last year, very good! Were just here again a few weeks ago, visited Brent again, bought some more wine to bring home. The Syrah is very good! Cheers!

Had visited this vineyard before on a previous trip to the West Elk area, but had the opportunity to stay at the Stone Cottage this time. Fabulous!Lovely, beautifully sited cottage with great views. Ability to cook on site. Owners are friendly and accessible, and it is a unique and special place to stay if you are visiting the area.

On a Fall foliage trip, I was stopping at a number of wineries on Colorado's Western Slope. Stone Cottage Cellars is on a hill above Paonia. It is a small vineyard, but the owners produce 5 wines from the grapes grown on their property, including Chardonnay, Syrah, Merlot and Gewurtzhaminer. They are all dry varieties, but have a smooth and subtle taste on the palate.The tasting room is in a small Stone Cottage - thus the name. The owner did the pouring and she is friendly and informative.Beyond the quality wine, the views from the property of the mountains and valley are stellar (especially with the Fall foliage). This is well worth a visit in conjunction with the other wineries in the area.
