It was pretty interesting. I liked the old cars and hearing the stories about them. I wouls recommend checking it out.

What a building! Back on Long Island, there are many examples from this time period on the North Shore. Anyone who loves traditional hardwood designs and ornate moldings will be in heaven. Oh, the steam car was very interesting to my husband...

We took a tour with Jeremy. It was just the two of us and him. It was fabulous, very informative...and we had some "local" visitors give us a little spook.

We took the historic tour of the hotel. There was a lot of history on he family that built the hotel and some background information but we did not really see much that we could not have seen on our own. That said, the hotel itself was beautiful and some of the artifacts inside (especially the Stanley Steamer) were very nice. The hotel is definitely worth visiting but the tour is only OK. I actually did enjoy all of the history but could have Googled it. We were told that the historic tour is better than (and goes to more places than) the ghost tour. We did not do both so cannot say. We did hear a fair amount about the various hotel ghosts on the historical tour.Steven King stayed in room 217 for one night he seemingly experienced many of the things that happened in the movie "The Shinning". However, the movie was not filmed here. On the other hand, the min-series of the same name was filmed here as was the movie "Dumb and Dumber".

We've been here several times. Always enjoy coming back. It's a wonderful place to visit. The museum and the ghost tour are lots of funIt's a must to go to the bar & sample one of the superb whiskey offerings. They have one of the best stock bars in Colorado

This was a big disappointment to the 8 of us that went. The tour takes you in store rooms and then we sat in a room waiting for a door to shut...just nonsense. We did go see the OUTSIDE of room 237. HOWEVER that is wrong ... Steven King used room 217 in his series. We also saw the faucet that turned into a snake on that floor.. We ended up in the basement where one of the people on the tour fainted. The guide did not seem impressed and took her out. Tour guide came right back and said she was being taken care of. We all thought it was set up. A HUGE disappointment. Save the $25 p/p price and see the TV series of THE SHINING !! The series is soooo much better then the movie in my opinion. The best part was having a drink in the bar which is NOT included on the tour. The hotel is lovely but you don't need a tour for that.

This is a wonderful hotel and the museum tour is a must do. It takes you thru the basement and to the rooms of the shining. The Stanley steamer and sever versions are part of the tour it was fun and definitely worth it

As a history buff and movie buff, I've wanted to go to the Stanley for years. It didn't disappoint. Other reviewers are saying they were charged $5 for parking. However, my wife and I stopped by there twice and we weren't charged at all on either visit. Either way, we would have gladly paid for the $5. It's an awesome place and full of really interesting history.

My husband and I went on the 9:30pm ghost tour at The Stanley Hotel. Needless to say, we were there for 3 hours because we were the last tour! We had some amazing experiences, but I don't want to give anything away. This is totally worth checking out!

We were staying outside of Denver. It took us about and hour-hour and a half to get to Estes Park, but, you would never know it. The drive was so beautiful. The town is gorgeous. The hotel is gorgeous. The tour was fun. Thomas, our guide, was enthusiastic and informative. We had a great time. We actually got to see the infamous room 217 and caught an orb in one of our photos :P I recommend this as a "thing to do" if youre ever in Colorado.

We were there just last week and no one charged us anything to park, so I am confused by the reviews stating it cost $5. We paid nothing. We took the tour which with our AAA discount was $17 per person. It would have been nice to take it in the evening (spookier??) but all those were booked up so we took a day tour, which was really fun. Walter was very informative and all in our party enjoyed the tour. My husband sat on the big front porch in a wicker chair with a wonderful view of Estes Park. It was raining a little and a little chilly too but being from Chandler, AZ (100 + daily in the summer) it was like heaven to be wearing a light jacket and to get drizzled on a bit. All in all a very special part of our trip to Estes Park.

Yes we were surprised about the parking fee, but since we decided to spend the day here, eat, take the history tour, and view the museum, the fee went toward our purposes. We did almost walk away from the dining room when asked if we had a reservation. (the room was empty.) The hostess seated us anyway. In fact, everyone was seated. We found the food excellent, the tour informative, and the grounds lovely.

we were just there on a family vacation. We thought it would be nice to go into the Stanley Hotel for a cocktail and get the kids some ice cream. The guy at the gate charges five bucks for parking. some people may call me cheap. But I have principles. I'm not going to pay $5 for parking when im planning to spend money inside their establishment.we decided to hell with it and to go into town to spend our money. one thing that I did find out is when you pull up to the hotel instead of going right to the gate. Turn left and go towards the service area. There is parking on that side of the hotel. And you can walk around to the front doors. There is no guy at a gate charging for parking there..

We went to the Stanley hotel and the front desk stated no the museum is not open to take public charged 5 dollars to parkThe website attached goes to a site in Maine

We were interested in checking out the lobby of the Stanley Hotel, and perhaps acquiring a souvenir, but were surprised that the hotel is charging $ to park in their lot. So, they lost potential customers, and we settled for a photo from the road. They are really milking their "fame" for all it's worth!
