Where else can you play a beautiful hole with 12 bull elks lining the course? The Estes Park 18 hole golf course is beautiful, challenging, and a great outing. Just keep in mind that retrieving your golf ball from a nearby bull elk is not worth the risk during RUT season.

I played a round here in early October (my wife drive the cart). I only played 9 holes due to time constraints and the 9-hole course was closed, apparently so many elk gather for rutting on that course that it's out of action for six weeks or so every autumn! When you warm up on the driving range you'll feel like Superman if you've never driven at altitude before - my usual pathetic 150yd drive flew off the rubber tee and came to a halt just past the 250yd marker, but be warned, while you get the distance, your miss-hits will be punished! That fade that normally sees you in the rough at sea level? You'll be playing off the next fairway! The service was great, one of the employees went out of his way to help as I made it around the course and the cart has a useful guide to each hole. The 1st is meant to be one of the hardest holes on the course, though I found it to be one of the easiest - having a gallery of members and staff watching you drive off the first probably has more to do with it being a hard hole than the layout! The course was extremely forgiving - I didn't lose a single ball in the rough because even the rough around the trees was cut back to a length you'd get on many a fairway on a British course. I also managed to avoid all bunkers with ease. Putting was tricky and the greens were very hard to read so my scorecard didn't benefit from the altitude and cut at all. I imagine if you're a fairly decent player you'd have this course's number after a couple of rounds. The setting is undeniably pretty, even my golf-sceptic wife enjoyed spending time touring the course and I was disappointed to only play 9 holes. No elk when we were there but that didn't bother us as we were a but elk'd out by then. The pro shop is well stocked with around 40 varieties of caps and the breakfast in the bar was lovely. I just hope it's not too long until I can return and play holes 10-18.

Great views, good prices and accommodating employees. Visited in October and had to shoot over elk herd on the course. Awesome

I went to the golf course to check out the elk I read about that visit the course. I had not planned on playing but could not pass it up after I saw course. I was not prepared to golf but staff was very accommodating. The course was in great shape and a lot of fun. Great mountain views and I did see elk! They were relaxing in the sand trap. It was a great outing. The pro shop even gave us a great dinner recommendation.

A beautiful golf course. A wonderful old log cabin clubhouse. Great historical pictures inside. Large rock fireplace. Inviting bar and grill. All the tables have a great view of the course and the surrounding mountains. The staff was so friendly and pleasant. Set up to call the club house at #9 for your lunch order at the turn. Gotta like that feature. Each golf cart has a handy booklet that give cues for the different fairways, bunkers and greens. Can't wait to return.

Close to town and excellent condition this time of year. Very accommodating for our group of 5 foursomes!

This is a beautiful course. We played here at 1 in the afternoon, and it was not too busy. Most holes are straight, not too many hazards. We would play here again if we are in the Estes Park area. Staff was very friendly1

Course in great shape. We decided to walk which was great. You certainly get your exercise on this course! Morning started out very cool but warmed up and was beautiful!

This is a gorgeous course and the staff was very kind and accommodating! They allowed my 10 year old grandson to hit balls and practice for upcoming tourney! The clubhouse had a patio with a beautiful view!

Played 18 holes, epic views! A herd of elk went across the fairway, a fox ran by at one point. Not a bad price too, especially for everything you get!

We had a ball playing this course in July. The course was in great shape, lots of interest and character in the hole layout and design, fabulous views, and just plain fun to play, even with rain on a few holes. Clubhouse check-in person and starter were very friendly, restaurant staff were efficient but not very friendly. Great mountain golf outing location.

I will say the course was good but nothing special. It was in ok shape and an ok layout. The one thing that sets it apart is the mountain views which are beautiful. If not for those views it would not be a course I would go out of the way to go back to.

Loved the views, course in good shape, staff friendly and food good in restaurant, reasonably priced round of golf but hire clubs could be better!

The course was in great shape. Great scenery while you are playing and even some wildlife. Hilly course adds character.

A group of 20 play this course every year with the characters changing as we grow older. Great fun on this course and with the management. The Wheel Bar Open Tourney!!!!!!!!!!
