These hot springs are the natural ones on the Piedra river in the National forest They are not the commercial operation in downtown Pagosa Springs on the San Juan river that is shown in the picture. If is a about a 3 mile roundtrip hike from a forest service road several miles from highway 160. Stop in to the Pagosa ranger station and ask for directions. You descend a steep hillside to the Piedra river and then follow it upstream to a couple of rocky pools on the banks of the river. You will want to visit when the river is running low. Each time we visited, the area had a fair bit of foot traffic.

It was really expensive, $24.50 per person. Most of them were real dirty, like fungi settled at the bottom and when you walked around in it, the stuff would rise to the top (hair and all). I recommend going, but only once because of the price. When you get too hot, you can jump right into the San Juan River.

The pools are a bit pricey but you can access every pool for an extra $5. The pools are so varied in temperature it is easy to spend at lot of time in the hot springs without feeling sick or unhealthy. Would certainly come back agian

We were told you must go to the hot springs when you're in Pagosa Springs. We hadn't read any reviews prior to going but we had reviewed the brochures we found in town which made it look lovely. When we arrived in the parking lot everything looked run-down. The staff that welcomed us were friendly. The setting is beautiful, right on the edge of the San Juan River with a nice view of the river and the town. There were many tubs to choose from but many were quite small so you felt funny about getting in one if it was already occupied by 3+ people. It was not an "upscale" clientele...you may not feel comfortable there unless you are overweight, are there to take your weekly bath and covered in tattoos.

Watched the fireworks from here while sitting in the Springs. Very nice for all members of the family.

Only reason I gave this a low star is simply because of the cost of going here. Adults $25 and kids $14. Ok if you are going to stay more than a few hours, but if you just want to soak for an hour it's a little pricey. I think they need to have an evening special where if you enter after say 8:00pm there is a discount. The place is clean and the scenery is majestic and relaxing........

We always love the soaks here. It is well run, clean, and the staff is great at explaining everything. Only complaint were the other guests that couldn't read English signs that said "Quiet".

Boiling sulfer water flows freely from a number of hot springs downtown and the smell of sulfer permiates the air. May annoy you at first but it starts to smell good, sort of wild and natural, once you get used to get.

The hot springs are actually located on the San Juan River in downtown Pagosa Springs. A great place to go after a hike or a day of skiing. Many different pools with a widw temerature range so there is truly something for everyone. If you dare you can even take a brief plunge in the river. Very relaxing and I have to admit the pools do seem to have some healing qualities for me and help get rid of aches and pains.

If you go to Pagosa Springs, do yourself a favor and spend a few hours here. It is clean, very pretty with flower gardens, and, the views are stunning. There are several 'springs' to dip into, with varying degrees of heat. I have been when it was raining softly, and could stant 111 degrees. But, on this most recent trip, It was sunny and a little warm, so I only made it to 103 degrees! Whatever your taste is, there is a spring with a view, or, just walking around the gardens is a treat unto itself! It beats an indoor spa anytime!

The "hot springs" most reviews here refer to are not on the Piedra River! The town of Pagosa Springs has 3 commercial facilities providing geothermal soaking pools. The largest is called "The Springs" and is likely the facility referred to here. It is adjacent to the San Juan River. The Piedra River is quite separate, located several miles west of town. Other "hot springs" facilities in Pagosa Springs are "Healing Waters" and "The Overlook". All are centrally located in town. While there are other "hot springs" elsewhere in the county, they involve relatively lengthy hikes and are quite rustic. The commercial hot springs facilities in town offer many amenities in addition to warm mineral water soaking and visitors to Pagosa can walk to any of them from the main street..

It is probably the main reason that there is a town located at this spot. The Springs has recently completed a very nice addition to their hotel. This is the place to stay for those who prefer the service of a 4 star hotel, spa and hot springs. The hot springs are delightful. You sit in your favorite pool and watch the river flow by, the people walking the paths and look across at the town. We take all of our visitors to the Springs. Don't miss it.

Well worth getting the week pass, even if you don't use it everyday. This is a great place if you need a bit or water/sunshine along with the mountains. Different hot spring pool temps, enjoyable for all!

Can't beat having both the river and hot springs to bath in. Float the river and have a soak after. Good scenery and close to everything.

What can I say except "Melt all your troubles, aches, and pains away" after sitting with the river at your feet in the variety of different temperatures offered.
