We visited the Aurora History Museum on New Year’s Eve. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 0900-1600 and Saturday and Sunday from 1100-1600. They are closed Mondays and on national holidays. The museum is free to the public and also services as a cultural center. It is located adjacent to the Aurora City Hall and shares a parking lot across the street. There was also a parking garage that we noticed when we entered the museum. There was a volunteer who explained the museum’s layout and what there was to see.The museum had both a permanent as well as a couple of traveling exhibits. The permanent exhibit focused on the development of Aurora. The focal point was on an old trolley that was recently restored and is on display in a new wing. You can walk through it and sit on one of the old benches while listening to the bell chime. However there are many interesting displays on the local history worth spending your time studying. For those who live in the area there are sliding boards explaining the history of the various regions. Other displays included military history, transportation and education highlights. During our visit there were exhibits on early Japanese woodblock prints and quilts on loan and owned by the museum itself. The Japanese woodblock print exhibit was interesting as it is not something you get to see that often in American museums. For a small museum the Aurora History Museum offers a lot to see and learn about the region. It rivals bigger museums in the quality of what is presented and will not set you back financially. There is also a kid’s room in the museum that serves two purposes. There is a mock-up of an old class room as well as modern day books and toys to keep the youngest kids occupied. If you are in the Aurora area I would highly recommend visiting the museum. It is one of the better things to do in the Denver area. Make sure to check their website to see what traveling exhibits are going on.

It Small. The exhibits are put together well. It's fun to spend a hour or so. The price is right. Check it out!

I have been there a few times. While it is small it has impact. Depending on the display it is worth checking it out. Each time I was a display I was interested in, and I was surprised at the quality. Check it out and see if the current exhibit is something of interest and check it out.

The Aurora History Museum is hard to find, tucked behind the city and county buildings, but worth the search. Their featured exhibits are usually well done, especially the exhibit of the Colorado Japanese internment camp last year. We enjoyed the history of video games. In the process of enlarging and updating, the museum promises to be bigger and better soon.

Aurora Museum is a free small museum that is right next to the Aurora Central Library. The exhibitions vary and are very interesting. They usually come from private collections. Anything from the history of video games to Vietnam War remembrances. There is also a room for kids to explore and has outfits for imaginary play, drawers with examples of fossils, woods, shells, etc. A relaxing couple of hours. There is always someone there to answer questions and you can just donate to help keep the museum running and open to the public.

A museum focused on City of Aurora with rotating exhibits of related subjects such as a current one of photos of the earth and moon taken from space station. All volunteer and very well run operation, supported by the city plus donations. No admission, but I always leave donation.

It is great if you are just looking for information on the settlement and history of the town of Aurora but if you are looking for more than just Aurora information you will be disappointed

Though small the Aurora History Museum is a quaint and interesting stop. It is very near to Aurora, Central Public Library and was interesting. There are all sorts of historical bits that residents and visitors would not otherwise find easy to learn or know. It's super small so the tour takes less than an hour. The best part is you won't get sore feet from too long walks.

I had been to this museum before, and really like the changing exhibits they present. I went to see "Marking Time, Voyage to Vietnam" and it was very interesting. I recomment you start with the 10 minute video outside the room, then also watch the one inside. The discplay was nicely done, as they all are. It is a small museum, will take about an hour to view all the rooms if you choose. Take the time to read the posts next to the displays. You'l learn alot! It is free and they do have a donation box next to the front desk if you'd like to support these exhibits.

My dad, a Vietnam Veteran now diagnosed with a critical illness from Agent Orange, wanted to visit this museum as he had read they had an exhibit called "Marking Time, Voyage to Vietnam". Pieces of the dismantled troop ship that took him to Vietnam in 1968 was on exhibit. The exhibit was very poignant, emotional, comical and informative. This is a free museum and the staff work voluntarily, they accept donations. I would visit this again.

Interesting, but small. Not a full day's activity but a pleasant way to spend an hour or two.
