The secret is out. The Hidden Vineyard is a best-kept secret. Found it by accident after visiting Calverton Cemetery. Followed "wine-tasting" signs that I almost gave up with thinking it was a hoax. Finally there it was. Looked closed, but when we drove up the driveway to the palatial home, I could see pourings going on through the door. What a find! $5 tastings of six different wines. Three red, three white. It's bottled from an oak cask before your eyes. Personalized labels, if you wish, are free. Try the reds. They are superb. And the Chardonnay was no ordinary white! The owner said there will be no commercial buses coming to this place. Good for him! Those busses have trashed up the Eastern End vineyards and made it too touristy. In the summer, he said, bring your own food and enjoy a picnic outside overlooking the beautiful vineyards.
