This is a cemetery with a lot of history. Susan B Anthony & Frederick Douglass are 2 of the better known residents. It's really beautiful with old trees, slopes and some ponds. Try to take one of the many guided tours they offer @ FOMH. The guides are wonderful and add interesting facts during the tours.

This landmark and very old cemetery has winding hilly walks in the "older section" or flats for those that prefer it. The history of Rochester`s oldest (and often richest) can be found here with ornate monuments and fancy stones but hundreds of more modest gravestones are worth a look as many tell rich stories with anyone with a bit of imagination. One for a man with each of his 3 wives having stones as well, another listing several children of the decedents none of whom lived past the age of 4, fallen civil war soldiers and on and on.

I have about 100 family members here dating back to the 1800's.It is a very nice Cemetery but needs some TLC.

Lots of history - both of cemetery design and of the people 'resting' here - in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. I enjoyed visiting Susan B. Anthony's and Frederick Douglas's graves on a quiet, snowy day. You can stop in at the cemetery office for a helpful map.Guided walking tours are offered and I've heard they are good, and popular, but I haven't tried one of those yet. Definitely worth a visit.

this cemetery is a refuge in the midst of the city, beautiful, peaceful, historical i visit it several times a year.

Visited the Mt. Hope Cemetery and was struck by the many beautiful and stately trees on the property. In particular, look for an enormous Copper Beech near the smaller of the two entrances. We only had time to explore a few areas of the cemetery. A great place to teach children about local history.

This is a wonderful place to take a walk or do a photography tour. In spring there are the lilacs to see, in fall the blazing color, and in winter the snow is a stunning backdrop to the chapel ruins, the mausoleums, and the unique architecture. Famous graves or cenotaphs include George Eastman (Kodak), Susan B Anthony, and Frederick Douglas. While there save time to visit the Eastman museum.

The cemetery is located on a serious of glacial remnant hills and valleys. It is a fantastic spot for bird watching, geological explorations, history hunting (don't miss Susan B Anthony and Frederic Douglas' graves), and old tomb spotting.

It must be the most unique cemetery in the country with it's rolling hills (Drumlins& Kettles), ponds, alleys, stunning sculpture. At every turn, the landscape is unique. Many famous and infamous people were buried there, Suffragette Susan B. Anthony and Freedom Fighter Frederick Douglass, and Photography Philanthropist George Eastman I visit an ancestor who died in the 1800's and was buried there every month.

This is one of the oldest operational existing cemetaries in the United States. Susan B. Anthony is buried there amongst many other famous people. They give wonderful tours on the weekends and special tours during different holiday seasons which is great! If you are in Rochester, it's worth just taking a walk through such a historic place! You will not be disappointed!

This is one of the Nation's largest cemeteries, so visit their office for a map or research it online before you go. Terrain is varied and you will want to wear appropriate shoes if you venture off the main path. It is very old and interesting, especially if you can recognize family names of many historic persons buried here.

To stroll the quiet and lovely grounds at Mount Hope Cemetery is an enjoyable walk through history. It covers a lot of ground and can be a bit hilly, so wear comfortable shoes.
