Don't be discouraged by the lobby and how touristy it appears. This place features some of the most beautiful natural scenery I have ever seen. And, I live to be outdoors! You will want to spend the entire day, there is so much to see and do. This is an absolute don't miss!

This is a natural rock gorge, or chasm, easily accessible with walking paths. Very beautiful.....also includes a fast ride down some rapids if you want. All natural rock formation, water pools, and falls, in the Adirondacks. Well worth your time to see it.

This place is so amazing! The lobby will make you think, oh this is going to be boring or what did I get myself into. Once we started the guided tour my mouth dropped. Once you are on the tour there were amazing bridges that looked like castles. Keep in mind that we were walk though nature so a can of bug guard would be a good recommendations. As the tours goes out it was hiking though a mountain basically. The design is stairs and man made bridges to see the whole experience wand up the mountain. So make sure you have on walking shoes and sneakers are even better. There were waterfalls, running water rapids, and mountains that were so beautiful. After the tour inside the lobby they had a museum of the history of the place. It was ok and free nothing to major but nice to stop an glance at.

A must see on any Adirondack vacation. Wear a bathing suit and tube the rapids section or take the guided raft.

This is a great place to take your friends and family for a nice hike, especially in the fall as our Adirondack region of upper New York State is a beaut! It's a hike most folks can do (I'm not the 'fittest' person), and I had no trouble. The chasm itself is a great experience, whether you just walk it, or do the whole adventure which also includes a boat ride through and various other options. There is a gift shop and restaurant as well. Just an all around great place to spend the day!

This is a do not miss stop if you're traveling for a sight seeing tour. It's wonderful to get out and see the power and beauty of the falls.

Perfection! No other words to describe this place! Go see it. And if you like adventure, do the adventure tour which includes rock climbing, zip lining, etc.. Lots of fun.

We really enjoyed our walk through the chasm on a beautiful autumn day. We are looking forward to going back next summer to experience the adventure trail & ride an inner tube down the river

Be sure to include the boat ride if you go because it is half the fun! You don't get wet but it's a little exciting and your charming guide will fill you in on little known facts about the Chasm. The hike was just long enough for the four of us and the difficulty factor was a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10. We did have a perfectly bluebird day! One of us is a bit nervous about heights and with a bit of coaching here and there she enjoyed the entire walk and ride. The natural beauty of the Chasm and awesome wonder of the power of the river held our attention. I took many photos and was able to make a slide show for the golfers later. We are thinking of coming back with the grand children. Some may require leashes.Snack bar is not where you want to eat lunch

We have spent a lovely afternoon in the first week-end of october at Ausable Chasm. You can bring a pic nic to eat before or after the walk by the river. It took us around 3 Hours to do the entire trail. We started with the easy trail and finished with the intermediate trail. Nice scenery and a pleasant way to spend the day while doing some exercice.

The first time we went to Ausable Chasm they were recovering from a flood so the more difficult paths were closed. You saw the spectacular chasm from a distance. This time all the damage had been repaired and it was definitely worth dodging the rocks and tree stumps to see it up close. If you take the easy path that is beautiful too but you are not really inside.

I spent 4 days in Lake George in the end of September and decided to trek 1.5 hours to visit th Ausable Chasm and I am so glad I did. The views were absolutely magical! I felt I was transported to a different time and place. There were so many times when I was completely alone. The views are breathtaking and my iphone did not do justice. I did not do the rafting, but next time I would definitely do the adventure trail, which included rope bridges, and zip lining.

During my recent trip to Lake Placid we decided to explore the Ausable Chasm and could not believe the natural scenic views and walkways. We took the classic tour due to the time of year but thinking about returning in the summer or early fall to do more - rafting and taking on the adventure tour! The classic tour follows the scenic trails through the oldest natural wonders. You can decide to take the easy path- covered with bark mulch and clippings it feels so soft on your feet or as we did, venture off the trail which includes rocks, tree stumps and leaves and more hilly but it was awesome. The views are unbelievable, walk ways great, steps and the waterfalls spectacular. We saw the elephant head rock formation, location for the rafting and rock climbing. All very interesting. Lots of fall colors this time a year and loved the views, bridges, rock formations and more. At the end if the trail we were picked up by a shuttle bus which took us back to the welcome center- gift shop. Words that describes the walk- scenic, spectacular, awesome views, some moderate trails along in addition to the easy path, well worth a day trip. Enjoy and take the time to see everything.
