A heaven for foodies: you can find all the spices you can dream off and then some. In addition, their food is as authentic as it gets. From the falafel through the pastries and stuffed grape leafs. the canned goods from all corners of the globe will have you believe that if world politics were left to foodies we will have world peace by now. If you're an olive oil aficionado (snob ?) like me - try the Safian brand, the Beirut raw tahini is the real deal and caviars are reasonably priced. The tea selection and herbal tea section is great and will take one a life time to taste everything that on the shelves. This along with great service make this a place that try to get too on a regular basis. Bring cash and you will get a discount.

What a great adventure to go into Kalustyan's and just browse. If you have a specific spice in mind you will find it here, also so many other food treats. A NYC treasure!

I've been making pilgrimages to Kalyustans for what must be 30 years. What an AMAZING store. I can't even imagine how they have managed to amass this enormous collection of spices and "local" foods from all over the world. I am a very international cook, cooking foods from Asia, the Caribbean, Central America and Europe, and it has been rhe extremely rare occasion when they don't have what I need. More frequently, I find loads of things I never knew I needed and they become lifelong staples. It is such a PLEASURE just to step inside. The proprietors are very knowledgeable and helpful. Yes, the prices may be a bit higher than you might find in a local store, if you can even FIND the item in your local store, but this is one stop shopping. If they don't have it, you don't need it!

Totally impressive. Never ever seen so much spices and variety specialty foods in one single store. Sweets; peppers of all kinds; spices; cooking utensils; etc
