We stayed here in July 2014 and were impressed by how awesome the campgrounds were. You are right next to Lake Ontario, and the facilities were impressive. The picnic and restaurant area was clean, and the beach was well maintained. There were four lifeguards on post at all times, and hiking and biking was amazing.

We put in a reserve for August 11th on July 15th only to show up with someone else on our site. Not one person At the park could do a thing so 6 of us stranded in Syracuse . Won't give us a refund but yet they wanted us to set up on a non electric site only to break all our camping stuff down to move the next day which wasn't the day we reserved. Exspected to be OK with this after they tried to smooze us with no this is your spot. My advice go to Ta-ka-soke way better and more accommodating. Never again and a week later still waiting on my refund that because of 20 years we could not get right there. What a joke no wonder they are closing State parks. New Help Needed!

We stopped here on a Monday morning and the whole place was deserted except for one dog-walker. Consequently, the place had a very eerie feel about it. There is an enormous parking lot for a small beach. Does it get busy at weekends and holidays? The single amenity building was shut, and there were several signs saying that bathing was prohibited because there was no lifeguard on duty. This seemed to be safety gone mad. Cannot a responsible adult assess the risks for him/herself and then decide to have a swim in a lake, even if there is no lifeguard? And the USA is supposed to be a free country, but not when its hog-tied by so many petty regulations. The only good thing was that the restrooms were open.
