We love Thorncrag! It offers easy walking terrain and a variety of route options so we don't walk the same route each time. Our dog hates it, of course, because he can't go! but our granddaughter loves it! She learned to snowshoe here last year and she loves to walk into the "frog pond" when we go after the snow has melted! Love to see the several young men and women who stop on their way home for a jog or run. Taking advantage of what you have is the battle won!

What a great treasure hidden in the middle of town. If you need a quick escape with solace and beauty this is the spot for you. "Thorncrag" offers a variety of natural settings in which to rest, meditate, hike and/or explore. Depending on the season you will find trails filled with wildflowers winding through the woods or crossing open fields. There are water features (ponds, streams and vernal pools), old ruins and lots and lots of birds. This is great place to get away for a few minutes or several hours. We have been taking our kids there since they were very young .. and now they are all grown up. The terrain is varied and can be accessed by almost any level of hiker/walker.Be sure to grab a trail map on your way in ... and enjoy!

This is a real gem. Once you get on the trails you would not realize you are actually in the city. Great for a quick invigorating hike or a more leisurely stroll. Dog owners should know that dogs are not allowed. Also, there are no restrooms or drinking water. This location is in the city limits but not to be confused with a city park - it is a bird sanctuary with hiking trails.

There are several trails that make for great hour-long walks. There are two entrances...one on East Ave & the main one on Montello Street. The Stanton Bird Club cares for the sanctuary and provides maps & info at kiosks at the entrances. There are also lots of birds and deer that live there.

Just enough of a guide so you don't get lost yet feels like you are alone in the woods. Just enough of an incline you you get your heart pumping but easy enough to enjoy the view.

Though this is not an extensive property, it is a wonderful little hiking spot in Lewiston. There are many trails which meander over a modest elevation.

It's not too large of a place but it's a nice day walk/hike. It's located in a convenient spot and gives you a chance to reconnect with nature.

This is the perfect place to go if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of town without going far. It's right in town. You don't know it when you are there. It's one of my favorite places to go hiking, running or snowshoeing. NO DOGS ALLOWED
