This has some very nice displays that detail lighthouse life, sea rescue, lighthouse technology and history. They have an excellent display of fresnel lenses and a nice map that details Maine lighthouse locations.

A wonderful museum that makes you appreciate the history of lighthouses and the individuals who ran them. Many items such as photographs, uniforms, pieces of equipment, replicas of buildings, and of course, the Fresnel lens. Really awesome!! I am not a sailor, but who wouldn't recognize the beauty and utility of these structures and the bravery of the lighthouse keepers. Worth a visit.

Actually, the museum has not been very long, but they are making great progress in making it better. Always interesting to visit the lighthouses and their memorabilia

On a recent rainy Friday morning my husband and I decided to visit the Maine Lighthouse Museum. Delightful volunteers who shared so much which added to the overall experience. Learning about the science of Fresnel lenses was excellent and actually being able to see several up close was a highlight. Lighthouse models were so detailed! Section on women lighthouse keepers as well. Followed up this visit with a walk across the Rockland Breakwater when the rain cleared. So very glad we decided to visit!

Interesting and informative. This museum has a great collection of Maine lighthouse history. You can spend an hour and see everything, it is definitely worth a visit if you pass through Rockland.

This was our second trip to this wonderful small museum that packs a wallop in the world of Fresnel lenses. It seems that they have about doubled their collection of these lenses since our last visit in 2011. And what a collection it is! What is the most impressive is how many are lit up. And they way they reflect and refract when lit from the side or back of another lens. WOW is the word when you enter and spend some time here. It is well worth the trip to Rockland.

I like lighthouses and both my husband and enjoyed our time here, we would have stayed longer but they were closing. There is every aspect of lighthouses and their keepers displayed here. I especially enjoyed the video of the history of lighthouses and their keepers. very enjoyable and cheap

This lighthouse is set at the end of a long jetty in Rockland harbor. It has been designated a public park by the town and it is terrific to walk out there - almost like walking on water. A true Maine experience.

The museum has a lot of technical exhibits on lighthouses but it is amusing as well. Plan to spend about an hour.
