FUN, FUN, FUN on the Aroostook River! And totally reasonable to boot!!Wow, great day and no worries. If you are looking for a canoe or kayak trip, visit this terrific outfitter. This is a small locally owned outfitter with loads of experience and advice. You can rent kayaks or canoes for 10 to 60 mile trips. The owner, Leo, will take you to the place to put in, and pick you up. We chose the 10 mile river trip which took us about 3 and a half hours. It was a beautiful day and that section of the river is very sparsely populated ( we only passed couple of houses the entire trip), which provides for a wonderfully natural experience. A few little rapids made it all the more exciting, but the majority of the trip was a terrific slow float down an Unencumbered river in Northern Maine. We were taken by truck up the river to a village called Washburn, and ended in the city of Presque Isle. Well worth the stop....this is one of those northern Maine adventures that is not wild, that you will not want to miss. Although the owner suggested we take a picnic lunch or snacks, we opted not to do that as we had just eaten a small lunch. Next time, and I defiantly plan on doing this again as soon as possible, we will bring a picnic and stop on one of the many islands dotting the river. This provides a break from paddling and a nice scenic rest.
