Angel Falls is hard to find but well worth the trip. Directions given were hard to follow but here is what we did: From the town center of Oquossoc, take Rt. 17. Travel about 17.6 miles; take a right onto the dirt road and cross over the bridge. You'll pass some houses then the road splits; stay to the right. Travel on this dirt road for a little over 3 miles and you'll see a path on the left with a sign high up on a tree that says Angel Falls (very hard to see). Drive down the gravel path to an open parking area. You'll know you're in the right place if you see a big rock with graffiti. To get to Angel Falls, take the red blazed trail. You'll quickly come to a stream that you need to cross by walking on the rocks or taking off your shoes and walking through the water. You'll need to cross the rushing stream many times to get to the falls. Wear waterproof boots or bring an extra pair of shoes to change into after your hike. We did this hike the last week in October so it was a bit cold and the stream was pretty high. Not sure how it is in the summer but at least it would be warmer and nice to be in the water. Crossing the stream on the rocks was difficult in some places. We had our beagle with us and she did fine. Young kids and older folks might have a hard time though. Once you reach Angel Falls the view is spectacular. The water was rushing so fast we could feel the spray on our faces. Nice photo opportunities and plenty of flat rocks to sit on to have something to eat or just take in the view. We didn't pass anyone on our way up but passed a few groups on our way back. Pretty quiet trail that time of year. A must see if you're visiting the area. We were glad we made the trip. I've attached pictures of spots to look for when trying to find Angel Falls.

This waterfall is fantastic but good luck finding it. No markings from the outside road whatsoever. Also, when you get to the actual trail head it is marked with a green and yellow sign that is about seven inches by 3 inches, which is great because it is nestled in the leaves and leaves aren't green or yellow......

If it weren't for the lady at Coos Canyon Rock and Gift shop we would have never found this place. The trek in and out is absolutely amazing. The road is a little bumpy and we didn't see another person for hours. The hike in is not long, but there are a few rocks to climb. You will cross the river a few times. You don't have to be a pro to tackle this hike!Take the time to get good directions.

thank goodness i read the reviews and suggestions from the previous writers. They were extremely helpful. Nice hike, beautiful waterfall. Bring another pair of shoes in case you step in the stream. I wish i had!! :)

The falls are beautiful and the hike is a piece of cake. The journey in to the trail head is the challenge.

We have been coming to Rangeley every summer for 10 years, and this was our third visit to Angel Falls. The first time the youngest in the group was two and needed a little help, this time the kids were all teenagers and enjoyed the extra challenge of climbing up beyond the point where you can access the pool of water at the base of the falls. The drive down Bemis Road is fairly long but very straightforward, the hike to the falls is short but fun due to the repeated water crossings, and the view of the falls is gorgeous. We will definitely be back!

I recommend this very short hike to anyone able bodied enough to walk across sometimes shaky stones in a quick running river. Easy hike, short, scenery is breathtaking. Angel Falls is such a beautiful sight, you have to do this hike! I recommend you go 18 miles from the junction of 4 and 17 then turn right on Houghton Rd then right on Bemis--go 3.4 miles and park on the left, you can't miss the trail its a wide path down the hill. Come from the other direction and there's a great chance you'll never see the trail, hard to spot...

One of Maine's hidden treasures. This is my second trip to Angel falls but if it were not on a map or in a book no one would know about it since there are no signs to say that you are at Angel's falls. Everyone will tell you to follow the red marks for the falls but i have found a secret set of falls that is not as difficult to reach to the right when you go down the gravel drive at the bottom of the hill to go right and down the embankment there is a beautiful set there as well.

This hike destination was hard to find but well worth the effort. The hike is not that long and fairly easy BUT crossing over all those rocks was a bit of a challenge. I had to laugh as I was thinking to myself that this was a bit crazy but then a young pregnant woman buzzed by us wearing flip flops and seemed to have no worries about any of this. Must have been a local. Once to the top the waterfall is beautiful and very enjoyable. I would recommend some sort of water shoes, not flip flops...lol
