Just a very nice spot to relax, swim or paddle. Get a good picture! Even better in the fall when the leaves are turning colors!

It's a beautiful old bridge. A lot of locals were there swimming, swinging from a rope, and jumping from the bridge. Made us wish we had brought our suits along.

Located 0.4 miles (0.6 km) off River Road, the rustic, 79-foot (24-m), one-span replica of the original Babb's Bridge (built 1843, burned 1973, rebuilt 1976) uses a Queenpost truss structure and rests upon split stone abutments. Its single lane carries Covered Bridge Road over the Presumpscot River. It’s just a bridge, and a short one at that, but its nostalgic charm is hard to resist. It’s also Maine’s covered bridge nearest Portland. Both the bridge itself and the view upriver are particularly photogenic during autumn when foliage turns. Legal parking is on the bridge’s west side.

Oldest covered bridge in Maine. Nicely preserved piece of history. A bit off the beaten path, but our Garmin got us there easily!
