This is truly a church with it's "heart" in the right place; their doors are always open. Figuratively.

Union offers life changing ministry as well as historical significance to the Berea Community. Union Church in itself was founded on revolutionary ideas of the founder of Berea College, John Gee Fee--- and continues to be a revolutionary institution. Today Union Church is one of the few church’s in the state of Kentucky who brands themselves as a place of worship who welcomes ALL---including the LGBT community. This foundation can directly related to Fee’s commitments to the Berea Community when found both the college and church, in that he believed god has made of one blood all people of the earth.

Union Church beat the historical Berea College and was, in fact, founded by the infamous John G. Fee who would become the founder and President of Berea College. The church was founded upon the principles of equality for all races and offered a place for African Americans to worship in a time when slavery played a major role in US history. The church was an image of equality to all races and nonsectarian, which would later become values for Berea College. Right beside the College Square, you are in walking distance to coffee at Berea Coffee and Tea, pizza at Papaleno's, or a historical dinner and nights rest at the Boone Tavern Hotel. A historical marker in Berea that you should check out.
