Beautiful! A nice place for a picnic, camp or just to visit the pool. The campground fills up fast...so make sure you have reservations.

Levi Jackson Park is nice but there isn't enough to do in the area to warrant putting on a to do list for afamily

Levi Jackson State Park is a mixture of good and bad, and in the end it will only depend on what you are looking for that will be the deciding factor on whether or not you enjoyed your stay. Here is my perspective on camping there. The Good & The Bad:You are within five minutes of many fast food restaurants and at the most ten minutes away from Walmart. However, this is also bad because you have a lot of traffic noise that enters the camp. It is most noticeable at night especially if you are a light sleeper. There are some easy walking trails right beside the campground. However, they were not clearly marked. We missed finding the cemetery simple because there was no sign that told us to take another trail, which happened to cross a major highway. Who would think of exiting the forest and crossing a major highway without a clear sign telling you to do just that? I found the walking trails around the campground to be a little frustrating. The traffic noise really distracts from the feeling of communing with nature. Seeing cars wheezing by at 60 plus miles an hour, through the trees, really makes me feel like I am not in the forest. The campground and recreational staff were friendly. The mill was OK. They were not grinding corn, which you can purchase, but I have seen more elaborate mills, so this didn't stand out to me at a great feature, and if you want to see a mill you would be best finding another one as this one is in a small building. Few people can stand in it at once. They do have a museum and gift shop. It costs $3.00, and if you camp there, you get a dollar off. It seemed rather small, and when I asked a worker what it highlighted, she could only say, "Um, some beds, and other old things." I decided, after that, to forego it.The bathrooms were pretty good. It might sound idiotic, but my camping experience being good or bad rests highly on the bathroom quality. I detest disgusting bathrooms that I need to take my kids to. It makes me feel filthy having to visit these necessities a half a dozen times a day when they are unkept. This is where "roughing it" doesn't work for me. The bathrooms here were clean, well stocked, and a worker was in cleaning them the next morning by 9. I visited one of the other bathhouses (they have three) to check its quality, too. It was as clean as the one I was using. Yep, I am fanatical about good bathroom quality. The campground sites are slightly below average spacing. You get the standard fire pit. Some sites are closer to others. They have over a hundred sites, and they are spread in a long line fashion. I like more space than what Levi Jackson gives a site, but I was fortunate enough not to have anyone beside me or behind me, so I felt like I had more room than I would have felt if the campground had been full. They have three playgrounds, but only one of them had swings. The playgrounds say they are for ages 3-12, but I think it would be more accurate to say the playground is for ages 3-7. It's pretty small, and if you have kids, which I do, it would push their endurance to play there for more than 30 minutes. So, all in all, if you are trying to escape the rush of city life, you might want to go somewhere else. If you want to camp for more than three days, I think you would enjoy yourself at another park simple because you would have more trails to walk, and you would have more space to relax in; however, if you are looking for a small break, but not far from the city, you might enjoy your stay at Levi Jackson.

This was our second time camping at this state park and it did not disappoint. They were able to accommodate our big rig rv but most sites are back-in. Some sites have sewer but they have on site dumping also. In summer they have a very nice pool facility and there are hiking trails and local attractions for entertainment. Our site was hard packed, well drained, and clean. The staff and park manager work hard to ensure your good stay. Try to stay during flea market weekends or during the world chicken festival and you will have a blast. We are already planning our next stay. A bit of advice-for the best service skip the Reserve America system and call the park directly. Happy camping!

Although this is a fun family place to visit, the noise at night is terrible. The camping park was mostly rvs and I see why. We camped in a tent and it sounded like we were right between an interstate and a train track. We didn't get any sleep while we were there!!! We were too tired to enjoy a hike or much of anything else due to the constant loud sounds of traffic and trains!!!! Definitely a place to stop and see but not camp In a tent that's for sure; unless, of course, you don't mind the loud annoying sounds at night. I could have camped in my own back yard in the city and had less noise. The little museum, old mill house, and cemetery were quaint and a nice stop off point for stretching your legs while traveling. The cost of the museum is minimal at 3.00 I think. The other attractions were free

Our family has been coming here for over thirty years each year the quality Gets worse and worse the bathrooms smell of outhouses there's hardly ever t.p. The shower was so nasty I took it upon myself to clean it before I even took a shower after thirty some years my family is thinking about changing campgrounds for our family reunion which is sad because we used to love it here!!!

The Levi Jackson public pool is reasonably priced and very clean. They have two water slides which is very fun for kids! I would definitely recommend this spot as a good summer activity.

We enjoyed camping at Levi Jackson State Park. Most sites were level, there were plenty with hookups, bathrooms were clean. Lots to do - putt putt, pool, sand volleyball court, basketball court and campground activities. We were there over a holiday weekend and it was VERY busy. There are a lot of people on their bikes and golf cars, plus quite a bit of campground traffic. If you stay near the front, you will have even more traffic. This is NOT a quiet, off-grid type campground, it is like a little town and was very social. Apparently it is also very busy in October during the campground yardsale. There are go karts and the park museum nearby.

We LOVE the pool and the Putt-Putt golf! Very friendly staff. Steve at the pool, as well as the other attendants, were absolutely wonderful with my grandson. Thank you!

My family and I just spent three nights camping at Levi Jackson State Park and we had a very good time. We reserved camping site M2 which is close to the back of the park and situated between a playground and a bath house. We chose this site as it is fully shaded and had access to water and electricity (we wanted to be able to plug in a fan more than anything!) The site that we chose worked out perfectly as its location allowed it to be a good bit larger than many of the sites in the park. The proximity to the bathhouse was a must for us. It poured down rain the first day and a half and as a result there was a great deal of mud everywhere. The bath house looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages and I was really starting to second guess our choice. They did come and clean at the end of the each day though and once the rain let up the condition of the bathhouse greatly improved. The showers in the bathhouse were nice in that there was a small area with a bench leading into each shower, though those areas while they had a drain, tended to hold water. The showers do not have temperature control but if you let them run just a few minutes the temperature gets just right. It is the style you have to push the button on the wall which can be a pain but is understandable for water conservation. There are several activities available i.e. a sand volleyball court, a basketball court, horseshoe ring pits, multiple playgrounds, and a putt putt course (when they choose to open it, it did not seem to have any set hours). Putt putt is extra but they provide the supplies you need to play, all other areas you have to bring your own equipment.I found security to be ample and we never felt unsafe. Quiet time starts at 11pm and we found all to abide by it.There is a train that comes through multiple times through the night and I counted one night...one train blasted its horn 10 times on the way through. It would seem locals could petition for a quiet time or at least to limit the number of blasts, it seemed excessive. If you choose to feed the ducks, go early in the day...they were full and uninterested by the time we got to them in the early evening. All in all it was a great trip. The facilities are not as nice as what we have experienced at other Sheltowee campgrounds but they were adequate. Great for families. Enjoy!

This is a beautiful park and worth seeing. Been visiting occasionally since I was a little kid. Very nice.

I have a 27' travel trailer and reserved M003 to have some solitude. The staff mentioned that the picnic tables have been moved and we all agreed to move me to L003. Both these sites are very short, matter of fact the L003 on the website shows 32' but there is no way I could have put my trailer in this spot if the campground was busy. Due to the heavy rains there were large puddles and mud where you would enter and exit your travel trailer. The park management mentioned that this lower section was built in 1964 and is intermixed with tent sites.Anyone with an RV, motorhome or travel trailer I highly recommend sections A, B, C and D as they are level, large and well graded. The park staff was very friendly and helpful. The firewood selection is dry and seasoned and reasonably priced at 10 pieces for $6. There was only one tenter in my area with no one around so it was really quiet. The dumpster in the "L" section was already full when I checked in and remained that way, I would have thought for a park that was open year round would have the trash picked up when full. The bath house at the lower end of the campground was open and was what I expected for a state campground but was clean. This park has a water park for families with children and some playground equipment to keep them busy. There are some non-technical trails for both hiking and mountain biking. The park also contains a memorial to a battle between settlers on the move and the local indian tribe as well a mill stone museum (outdoors).I would hope that the state of Kentucky would invest some money to repave, level and grade the lower half of the campground. With this investment you can have sites that would not flood and actually be large enough to contain a modern day travel trailer. Right now if I would come back I would not stay in sites "J" through "M". Some of these sites are large enough to park a car but the tent sites are not level, perhaps the website needs to be updated with correct information. The tent sites surpassingly have both water spigots and electrical hookups for RV's.The state of Kentucky has neglected the lower half of this campground, if they ever get around to update grade and level; this campground would score much better.

A lovely, relaxing area. Cookout areas, shelter houses, even a swimming pool (closed for the winter, of course). We loved the gristmill and millstone library (dozens of different huge millstones on display). Not only quite picturesque but also quite informative about that technology. During the tourist season I'm told they actually grind corn meal for you there. That would be cool to see.

We live semi-locally and traveled here for the intention of taking pictures here this day. During the on-season you can buy a sack of corn and feed the ducks. You can fish or take lovely pictures near the mill. This is simply a lovely area to picnic and bring the family for a day away. And this is only minutes from the interstate.

There are lots of things to do at Levi Jackson. My little boy likes feeding ducks, playing mini golf and playing at the park.My wife and I enjoy hiking the trails and going to the mill.Never have camped there but have heard good things(not my kind of camping) All in all I recommend!!!
