It's good, but not great unless you go at the right time or you're truly a horse lover (and just want to see the horses in the field and possibly take a ride). Museum is small, grounds are beautiful though. If going, try to find a date that has some event going on, lots of smaller events (Rolex is great, but Rude and Riddle, Christmas Lights events, etc. are fun too). We've lived 15 minutes away for over 15 years and been to many events. If you are coming, check the calendar of events and take in an event where horse shows and competitions are going on, they are the most fun as you get to see the horses in action.

What an amazing place! I love horses, but have never owned one. EVERYTHING you’d ever want to know – or didn’t know you wanted to know – you will find here. The place is huge! Luckily, your ticket is good for two days, and you will need it! We spent two half days there, wrapped around other activities, and could have used the full days – we didn’t get close to seeing it all. There are several museum buildings on the grounds, packed with interesting information and artifacts about different aspects of horsedom through the ages. There are also open barns you can freely enter to view some of the animals stabled there. The horse show and stables with breeds from all over the world was fascinating! And there are world famous derby winning horses retired here as well. That show was cool because they actually showed video footage of some of their wins and they brought the horse out for you to view close up and in person. There is a restaurant on site, so you don’t even have to leave the grounds to break for lunch. A gift shop is there too. This is a really really amazing place. If you have AARP, don’t forget to ask for your discount (where our ticket was only $15 each for two days admission!).

Although there were few horses on display, it was fun to see them. Learnt a lot about horses from one of the employees. Museum is amazing. Definitely going to come during the summer.

We visited in late feb, when the state had just experience a large snow storm. Subsequently, the venue was very beautiful covered in snow. However, many of the attractions were not open. We had a lovely walk through the grounds, and saw about 4-5 horses. Overall - it think this place is better to visit in warmer months.

Loved the international show with the horses and riders from different countries. The kid barn wasn't bad, there were different stables with things to do but not that much to do for the kids. We waited quite a while for the scheduled horse grooming, the kids loved doing that.There is lots of walking, glad we had the stroller for our 2 year old. Fun playground and the pony riding was fun for the kids too.

If you are into horses, history and/or the outdoors, Kentucky shores Park is the right choice. For a small fee, you will be entertained the entire day by horse shows, exhibits and museums. Bring your walking shoes, and lots of energy. You will need both for a fun day outside with the ponies! Friendly for all ages, but child's will LOVE it.

The Kentucky Horse Park is a one of a kind attraction that will educate and entertain the whole family. I really can't say enough about the beautiful countryside that the many thoroughbreds call home. This is without a doubt a must see if you are in the central Kentucky area.

The is a great place for families .. aways something fun to see and frequently horse shows and riding contests. The grounds are well maintained and clean, easy to walk around.

The KHP is a great day trip or vacation destination for couples, or families! They also offer awesome field trip opportunities :)

Those of us who live in Lexington were skeptical about the Horse Park, but have enjoyed it immensely. Nice place to stay if you have a camper, but if not, just visit. They also, in nice weather, have trolley rides out into the countryside to visit horse farms. A don't miss excursion. One of my favorites is the show of Breeds. Interesting. Trust me, you'll like it.

The Kentucky Horse Park is an amazing state park with many activities, museums, and shows. While I haven't been to the museums I have seen numerous shows and events here over this past summer as well as summers before that. Some of my favorite events to watch are the ASPCA Medal Maclay Finals and the CCI**** Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. These two shows are spectacular in the fact that you can see some of the best junior and adult riders in America as well as in the world compete. The Kentucky Horse Park also makes it easy to volunteer at events, and they manage to take good care of you as well. For example, in my experience at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event they provide a free lunch to volunteers—on the day that you do volunteer—and give you discounted tickets for the other phases of the competition. Also, in years that I have gone to the ASPCA Medal Maclay Finals there was no charge for admission, so I could see some of the best junior riders in America compete for free! The Kentucky Horse Park also hosts many other events and shows from local events to those that are nationally acclaimed. The Kentucky Horse Park often has vendors, the number of these are dependent on what show/event you go to, whether it be food, tack, or clothing vendors. I have found more often than not that the tack vendors sell good quality tack that is generally durable and lasts a long time, if you know how to take care of it. Moving on, restaurants, such as the Paddock Cafe, are average in quality. However, some food vendors who come to shows have amazing eats, such as the Rolling Oven, a food truck specializing in pizza, at the USPC National Championships. Adjacent to The Kentucky Horse Park are the campgrounds. You can bring a R.V. or even your own tent. Regardless, it has always been an enjoyable experience camping there whether it be with family or freinds. They also have a pool, supply shop, and restrooms. However, the pool and restrooms are a bit grungy. As I have spent a lot of time at the Kentucky Horse Park this summer seeing professionals and others ride in the disciplines of hunter/jumpers, eventing, show jumping, and dressage it has really inspired me to ride with confidence and good sportsmanship. A couple years back I had a very bad fall in which I fractured one of my vertebrae and I constantly contemplated whether I wanted to ride again. Although, seeing so many rides this past summer has really given me the opportunity to see that I do want to ride and to ride with confidence.

You can spend most all day at this large park enjoying all types of equine. Located between Lexington and Georgetown on I-75. The Toyota manufacturing plant is located north of Georgetown and cheaper motel rates , less traffic and easy access. Check the web site calendar to find events all year..

Is great place to enjoy the eventing. Very beautiful and well designed is ideal for families to enjoy and walk admiring the horses and blue grass.

The Kentucky Horse Park is a "thoroughbredly" enjoyable place to visit. There's a variety of exhibits, interesting history for equestrian enthusiasts, and the grounds are well groomed. Definitely a must visit when in the Bluegrass area! And watch for special events throughout the year.
