Want a history of Paducah. This is an excellent place to come. Has a lot of informative displays but Penny Fields who works as a volunteer really made it worth our while. She has a deep appreciation of all things Paducah and obviously loved her work. She is worth the visit in itself.

Most of the information is regarding the city of Paducah and McCracken County but the proprietor will delight you with "tasty tidbits" of history and memorabilia. Certainly worth an hour of your time and the small price of admission.

I'm originally from Paducah and am visiting my daughter here. She suggested that we go to the Market House Museum. Ahhhh, the memories. Not just memories of Paducah, but of a different time and place. Thanks so much Paducah for making this wonderful collection available to me.

Well worth the $4.00 admission. A self guided tour of Paducah history. Includes local notable people. I personally enjoyed the fire department history.

A nice short stop and full of historical details, especially Civil War. Not expensive and nicely air- conditioned

this was by far our most interesting stop in Paducah. It was amazing to see how well preserved such an assortment of items from the past have been preserved. The antique drug store with it's assortment of various remedies was particularity interesting. This was a fun and informative stop that was totally unexpected.

This museum is on a small brick covered tree lined street. Makes you feel like you are going back in time. The staff was friendly. The exhibits we good. Great for history buffs.

This museum has so many wonderful historical topics to explore, all dealing with people or events connected to Paducah, that you could stay for three hours and maybe not see it all. They have yellow storyboards at each case that will allow you to learn as much or as little as you might like. The staff are on hand to assist if you have any questions, and strive to make everyone feel welcome. The museum conducts free tours for local schoolchildren during the morning hours by appointment, and have for 45 years! They have a small giftshop with reproduction antique items, history-inspired coloring books, paper dolls, etc for the grandkids and lots of games and puzzles, history books about paducah and the like. All the gift shop sales go to support the school tours. Very seldom does the staff of a museum seem to care as much as this one, whether you enjoyed your visit with them. The 1877 two story drugstore woodwork interior is a real treat to see and the stained glass beautiful. Would recommend this museum to anyone coming to Paducah....and encourage the local citizenry to come by and see the exhibits. They are open 12-4 Tuesday thru Saturday, and mornings for groups by appointment. You can go to their outstanding website for more information, if you are planning a visit. It was posted on the back of the info sheet they gave us, and was as much fun as the Museum was! They have newsletters and games about history on the website. www.markethousemuseum.com

There is a lot of stuff packed into a small museum about the history of residents fo Paducah. There are a few really historical items from famous people but mostly items from Paducahans you have never heard of. It doesn't cost much and is not a bad way to spend an hour or so.

Truly awesome museum with beautiful woodwork! I am a nurse and found it extremely interesting to see the antique medicines and medical instruments that date back 150 years!!! I have visited on different occasions and every time I have learned something new. I have always been greeted by friendly staff that seem to truly love their job! Penny is full of interesting information that always adds to the museum experience! Will visit again soon...

If you enjoy history then this is the place for you. The Civil War exibit from Camp Beauregard is one to go see. This is the only exibit in america that has actual pices from the camp. The Lincoln furniture is also a good exibit show furniture from the lincoln white house. If you are in Paducah and love history stop by the museum and step back in the past.

Visit to Paducah was the quilt museum but the Market House Museum was excellent. Exhibits are well organized and accompanied by detailed history. Penny and Maddie are very friendly and informative. Would visit again.

Our family had a great time visiting with Penny and Maddie at the Market House Museum. Penny expresses an exuberant attitude about history. Her knowledge of the local history of Paducah is a valuable asset. By near and far the best afternoon we have spent in Paducah in a while.

It's a pleasure just getting to the Market House Muesum which is in the heart of historic downtown Paducah. Once there, a trip inside transports one to another time and place. History comes alive. Artifacts are displayed tastefully and each one is accompanied by a detailed history. It appears that everything is cleaned and dusted on a regular basis. It sparkles! I especially enjoyed the beautiful stained glass on display and was fascinated by the story of the Cohens. If you visit when the Executive Director is there, chances are you'll have your own personal tour guide. Altogether a delightful place.
