What a great way to spend an hour in the historic town of Butte, Montana! Great Victorian mansion built by the son of one of the Copper Kings. It was copied from a chateau in France seen on his honeymoon. Butte was once the largest city West of the Mississippi, and this home shows how wealthy the town once was. It is a fantastic mansion, and well worth the small admission fee. The docent was amazing. It's a shame the home is without it's furnishings, but all the better to see its bones! Great tour. Do it!

This home is better known as the Clark Chateau Mansion. It was built by Charles Clark, the son of William Clark, one of the Montana Copper Kings. It is open for tours, but call in advance because the hours are quirky. The home was designed to resemble a French chateau. Unfortunately, none of the furnishings are original. The house is used as an art gallery and also for a variety of local functions. Although somewhat interesting, your time is better spent touring William Clark's house, the Copper King Mansion.
