This remote state park is located on a heavily wooded narrow strip of land between US Highway 2 and northwestern Montana’s beautiful Middle Thompson Lake. If you can ignore or otherwise block out the highway traffic noise, particularly during day time hours from the numerous passing trucks and loud unmuffled motorcycles, it is a pleasant place to camp, picnic, or swim. This nice little park is well maintained and cared for by very friendly and helpful staff. The campsites are roomy with graveled asphalt RV/vehicle parking pad and a fire ring. There is a plenty of room to pitch a tent or setup an adjacent canopy shelter. While the large pines overhead provide adequate shade, visual privacy between sites is minimal. The restroom facilities are modern with cold running water. There are also hot showers but unfortunately they are not included in the nightly camping fee and will require quarters to keep the water flowing.Middle Thompson Lake is the main attraction. Located adjacent to a heavily wooded mountain slope, it’s a beautiful lake large enough for water sports and fishing. There is also a roped off swimming area with a small beach area.I’d recommend this park for an overnight or perhaps a weekend stay, but after a day or two the highway noise and pay showers get old.
Fur&Death
Logan State Park is formost a campground. It is equipped to handle RV's as well as tents. There is one walking trail that takes you maybe half a mile around Middle Thompson Lake. The view is pleasant with the lake and the hills behind it. The fishing is suppossed to be good on the lake but that is best done with a boat as the shore line tends to be mucky. If you need a place to rest for a while or camp for the night there could be worse choices.
