Small museum but an absolutely necessary visit to better understand the Salish and Kootenai cultures that surround you when you are in the area. There is a good selection of beadwork in the shop.

Displays and photography are amazing. Small displays . . but how we corrupted our original treaties with native americans is told through the stories of those who lived it. I hope I'm a better person because I took the time to hear the stories and see the faces. Worth the visit . . there is a lot of reading to capture the essence of what happened here - take the time to do so. Entrance fee is $6. Well worth a visit.

If you want to learn anything about the Salish and Kootenai culture on the Flathead Indian Reservation, this is the place you have to visit. A small but very modern museum that has an extremely interesting display of craft, artwork and historical items of these tribes. In addition, there is a beading room located right in the museum where you can watch natives (and non-natives) bead actual items that are sold in the museum store. Really cool. I would recommend this stop of anyone visiting the Flathead Reservation or perhaps anyone visiting the National Bison Range also located in the area.
