RED ROCK FALLS is located just 2 miles to the west of the hotel at Swiftcurrent Lake, situated near Many Glacier. The hike is an easy one, and easily navigated by small children. My photographs show the view from the starting point, namely, the majestic Swiftcurrent Lake (actually, what is majestic are the mountains that partially surround this lake). Also, my photographs show a couple of trees that are extremely weird. These trees are located immediately to the side of the hiking trail, and so you can't miss them. Also, I have attached two photographs of the view from the immediate vicinity of RED ROCK FALLS. To the south, is a mountain ridge that changes its personality, depending on the disposition of the clouds. And to the north, is a towering mountain peak, that also changes its personality, depending on the weather. Truly, any person with a camera and tripod can sit here for a couple of hours, and likely come home with snapshots that rival those of Ansel Adams. As for the waterfall, it is the case that Glacier National Park has other waterfalls that are more photogenic, and so, I didn't take pictures of them. The hotel at Swiftcurrent Lake is an elegant one, and it has a gifts shop with many tempting souvenirs, including arts and crafts.

Less than five minutes into the hike we saw a moose. The hike relatively easy and well worth it when you get to the falls.

Easy hike/walk to nice falls. Walk just a few hundred yards farther, scramble up the rocks and get great views of valley and mountains on the other side.

This easy hike starts at Swiftcurrent Pass. Most of the trail is pretty shady. After we reached Redrock Lake, we encountered a mama bear munching on berries while her cub was safely perched in the pine tree. She really didn't pay much attention to us...we took pictures and walked on by. On our return trip she was still munching but this time decided to follow us on the trail with cub in tow over to the lake. Again, lots of pictures while walking backwards so we didn't lose sight of her. Lots of fun watching them, but with bear spray in hand!

A nice short hike compared to some other ones my dad and I took in Glacier, Red Rock Falls was glorious. The hike was quiet though slightly more crowded- yet still not by much- and the falls were amazing to watch. The color of the rocks in that area are red and green and it was fascinating watching the water flow all around these old rocks.

To the falls is 1.8 miles one way. We get as far as the lake and you can see and hear the falls in the distance. The trail is pretty flat. Near the beginning we saw a mama black bear with 2 cubs eating huckleberries. They didn't seem interested in us and we just kept walking. It is a pretty busy trail. The lake is wonderful and we sat for awhile and just enjoyed the view of the mountains. Quite a busy trail. Along the way we walked down to a different lake and saw two moose standing in the lake eating. That was cool. Don't see moose too often. There were also dear there. The bears were still near the trail on the return with 2 rangers keeping and eye on the bears and the goofy people that wanted to get closer to them for a better look. This is well worth doing. Swiftcurrent Trailhead. Get a day hikes brochure from the visitor center. l

This was an amazing hike. The hike begins at Swiftcurrent Pass in Many Glacier. The hike was one of our favorites. You go by two lakes before you come to the falls. We saw deer crossing the stream. We also saw sheep on this hike.

Lots of evidence of bear. We saw moose. The hike is level; but you still need to bring water. It is a good half day hike. Great for a family. In and out of the forest. This is a well used trail by the people who stay at Many Glacier Inn, and the campground. The parking lot fills quickly. Getting there early allows you the best parking place, and the trail with no people.

The trail to the Red Rock Lake and Falls isn't too hard but still a good idea to take water etc. with you. Its so peaceful and amazingly beautiful as you head to the lake and see the falls in the distance. Even on the cloudy eve with rain on the way the day I took the hike it still looked so nice. As I recall its just under 2mi one way. I wish I had more time to see more but it was getting late and had a long drive back to Kalispell. DON'T forget you camera!

This trail in the Many Glacier's area of the park is an easy walk through woods, past lakes, with views of towering mountains, and a beautiful full waterfall. It is about 4.2 miles roundtrip. We had a close encounter with a deer on the trail and on the return we saw a bear in the woods maybe 100 yards away; there were several groups of hikers on the trail as well as a group on horseback and the bear was making his way away from all the commotion. They do recommend that you hike in groups and have bear spray with you. This hike is relative flat and has a good mix of meadows and forest with a many wildflowers along the trail.

My husband and I have hiked to Red Rock Falls two years in a row. Both hikes were the same time of the year but completely different weather. Didn't matter though, we loved the hike both times we did it. The hike is fairly level the whole time. You pass by two lovely alpine lakes and then come to the beautiful waterfalls. The first lake, FisherCap lake, is very special to us. We love to stop, both coming and going, on our way to the falls to see the moose in the lake. Such fun to see moose in the wild. Can't wait till next time we are in Glacier to do this hike again!!!

This hike was very beautiful with both the falls and the lake next to it being very nice destinations and perfect spots to have lunch or a snack. My 3 year old walked most of this hike by himself, there is hardly any elevation gain.

My wife & I toured Glacier NP in early June. Our big regret was not managing to stay at the Many Glacier Hotel since it wasn't yet open for the season. Nevertheless, our "basecamp" at St Mary Great Bear Lodge afforded us more modern facilities & a relatively short drive up into Many Glacier.Since the trail to Red Rock Falls was already cleared of snow & fallen trees, it was the logical choice for our planned half-day hike in the area. Even though we had partly cloudy weather with temperatures in the mid-twenties, the lack of tree cover for most of the hike made us heat up easily, so remember to bring plenty of water, slip (on a shirt), slap (on a hat), slop (on sunblock) and wrap (sunglasses) !Glacier was the first leg of our 3-week grand tour through Montana & Wyoming (see our travel blog http://skindeepclinic.blogspot.com). Looking at our pictures, you may understand why we believe that "Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away !"

If you are in Many Glacier and can't handle the long hikes then you should definitely at least hike up to Red Rock Falls. It is only 3.6 miles round trip. We were with my wife's parents and took our time and still made the 1.8 miles one way in an hour. My wife and I could have done it ourselves in 30 mins or so. Very beautiful area and I found many ripe hucks to eat. I love wild hucks!
