Took in this nice day hike. You can almost stand right under the falls. Most of the hike is void of views as its in the woods. But, its nice hike and would do it again.

Easy, both in same area off Going to the Sun Road. St. Mary pullout is the trailhead. Meadows, cascading streams and beautiful waterfalls.

Worth the hike to get to the falls. Great opportunity to see wildlife and get some exercise in a pristine area.

Great hike -- St. Mary's Falls and Virginia Falls are both breathtaking, as well as the smaller falls and rapids along the trail between them.

From the parking area for St. Mary Falls, hike a rocky path to Stl Mary Falls. Stop rest and enjoy the view - then reward yourself with a second gorgeous no more than 5 minutes from the first falls. We are not hikers - but this is a must do. It was frigid in the morning, so we came back to hike in the afternoon. There was a small area of melting water that had to be crossed.

Absolutely worth the 3 mile hike. A few up hill battles but nothing a little time and effort can't accomplish.

You start by hiking to and looking at St. Mary's Falls, but you must go on to see Virginia Falls as it is so much more beautiful and breath taking and worth the extra hike. I took so many pictures there.

A trail of a few miles, not a difficult hike if you don't mind going up. Beautiful trail all the way to the falls. Check for details at the visitor enter.

A nice family hike - we did see deer and 2 bears across form us right at the falls - take your bear spray!!

We took in all of the falls on our hike - the only drawback was not knowing which one we were at since there are two unnamed falls. Plus we entered the trail at a alternate location due to road construction. At first, we thought Baring Falls was St. Mary Falls until we saw a trail sign. Many people turn around at one of the unnamed falls thinking they are at Virginia Falls. Just remember if you enter by Baring falls, you should see five waterfalls before you are to the end of the trail and you should be able to identify Virginia Falls by the significant height compared to the rest. All of the waterfalls seemed to have an area where you could take off your shoes and socks so soak you feet in the water. So refreshing!

Standing at the base of Virginia Falls is quite spectacular and worth the approx 2 mile hike in. The elevation change of around 500' was not too bad. What was bad was trying to find a parking spot at the St Mary trailhead even at 10am. As others have said keep going until you can go no further. You'll pass many other falls along the way. All nice but the best has been saved for last. Even after doing the Highline hike the day before this is impressive.

Take the shuttle to St. Mary's Fall and hike pass to St. Mary's fall to Virginia Falls. It's a very flat, 3 mile hike. My family did this without any problem. When you get to V. Falls, keep on going another 15 minutes to the top. There are a lot of fake waterfalls, so make sure you go to the correct one. You will know it when you see it.

Take the shuttle to St. Mary's Fall and hike pass to St. Mary's fall to Virginia Falls. It's a beautiful hike about 3+ miles round trip. There are up and downs but not too bad. When you get to Virginia Falls keep going another 15 minutes to the top. It's worth the effort.

The trail to Virginia falls is a continuation of the same trail to St. Mary's falls. This is a very doable hike that's about 2 miles or so one way. You get to St Mary's falls first which has a wooden bridge that crosses over so you can get up close and personal. St Mary's falls is just a powerful cascading falls through a narrow slot canyon. Make sure you continue to Virginia Falls which is a more traditional looking waterfall that splits into about 3 separate streams of water as it comes over the mountain. Great picture taking opportunities and a nice place to sit and take a rest and eat a snack before hiking back. Access this hike at the St Mary's falls trailhead which is a shuttle stop on the Going to the Sun Road. You can actually see the falls in the distance from the road. Note that this is posted bear country as there are plenty of huckleberry bushes along the trail. This is a popular trail with lots of hikers so the chances of seeing a bear are probably small but you still need to have bear spray and take the sensible, recommended precautions when hiking in bear territory. If you like waterfalls, you'll like this hike.

Excellent Hike! Easy and lots of gorgeous waterfalls. Make sure you go to the very last waterfall - Virginia Falls - it comes off the mountain. you can see Virginia falls from the highway as you past the turnout for it.
