Pryor Mountain is absolutely filled with mystery and wonder for me. When there, I can sense ancient civilizations and their mystery and wonder, also. To me, the mountain should be visited in quiet respect and adoration...and then along comes 4 noisy irreverant ATV's that shatters the dream. Nevertheless, there is somethimg magical about Prior Mountain. Visit the mountain in May and June for a wonderful display of beautiful wildflowers.

We were only looking for wild horses and had no idea what we were in for! Gorgeous scenery and the Devil's Gorge was a hidden gem!

Being in the mountains withe very few people around was wonderful. At times we felt we had the place to ourselves. It's not the Beartooths for sure but it is much more than I expected from what I saw of them from Billings.

I was really following Indian Wars battles from Sheridan but one day my guide asked if I'd like to see wild mustangs. Would I? Of course! I know there is a big push to try and save wild mustanges in the south of the country, but these ponies up here in the Prior Mountains were just wonderful. We got close enough to see the stripes on their legs. And when you hear about how they are descended from the Crow and Cheyenne pony herds you get a different view of special history.

It was a wonderful trip, we used Fun Montana Adventures to book it. Max was a guide extraordinaire, and his son was wonderful too.

If you are looking for a remote, off the beaten path place to relax and get away from the crowds, then look no further. Access is rugged and 4wd is highly recommended. The slow going in is worth every minute.

You won't find many tourists here (and not many tourist amenities), but that's what makes this out-of-the-way place so great. If you're lucky you'll see the wild horses.

I know they are free to roam and you just never know. There were some pretty views out there, but don't go out of your way to visit.

these mountains are great little place to take a daytrip. There are some wild horses that hang out mostly onthe southern portion. There are some gesr and deer as wrll, if you hunt all deer and elk are special permit only. There is a cave called ice cave and its pretty cool also.

Pryor Mountains are a long way from Billings and not as shown on the map. A great place for locals, and they can get into trouble with roads, distance from any facilities(any!)

This is a great spot to go hiking and get in touch with nature. There are petroglyphs along some small rocky canyons, rock spires, a herd of wild horses, and some Ice Caves in the area. There are maps available in the local bookstores. The roads in this mountain range are mostly maintained, but a wrong turn can get you lost quite easily.
