Our family of 4 had a great day with Devon! The horses are very well trained and well taken care of! Not to mention the scenic views and awesome pictures! We visit WV once a year during Gauley Season and have been to all other riding stables in the area. I highly recommend Horseshoe Creek Riding Stable and will be visiting them in the years to come!

We visited Horseshoe Creek Riding Stable while vacationing back in August. I had talked to Gary on the phone and set up the reservations ahead of time for my family of 9. He told us where to meet and then we would follow someone to the stable. They arrived on time and we had about a 10 mile ride on some small, back roads to the start of our ride. The horses all looked to be in good shape and they were very easy to handle. Gary and Devon were our trail guides and were very friendly throughout the 3 hour ride. We started off down the road until we headed into the woods and down to the Gauley River. Upon reaching the river, we walked parallel with it for a little while before heading back. We headed back up the valley and stopped at a water fall to explore and take a quick break. Gary also stopped us along the trail so he could take pictures of our group using our camera. He made sure we got a good one.Over all, it was a great adventure, seeing a part of the country we would not have seen otherwise. We felt the price was very fare and both Gary and Devon went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable.

Our trail guide, Devin, was super nice and supportive. We asked for a private ride and got to cantor quite a bit. Horses were great. However, most off the ride was on old asphalt road, covered with gravel and dirt. We thought we'd be going through woods or along dirt paths. Also, we were told that the ride went along a river, but the river was far below and not really accessible, except by a short walk down a wooded path. Overall, it was good and is a nice memory for my sons and I.

What an awesome time we had horseback riding through the mountains of West Virginia! The day started sunny and ended in a deluge and we couldn't have had more fun. Our guide Gary was awesome. You could tell that he loves what he does and how much he loves his horses. I highly suggest Horseshoe Creek and they have the best prices around.

This was a great trip. The horses were very calm and nice, the people would stop to help if there were any issues, and it was not the typical plod along trip. The sights were beautiful and the stops we made were great adventures from the waterfall to the tunnel. And the dinner was delicious much more than I would have expected on a trail.

You will not find a more reasonably priced riding experience. We did the 3 hour ride and although we were a little sore, we certainly had a great time. Devin lead the way for us and was riding to the back to check on us throughout the trip. She was easy on us and her and Gary gave us horses which fit us all nicely. :)

Been to several riding stables over the years and Horseshoe Creek Riding Stable was by far the best! The owner has done a great job with raising and training his horses. Very gentle and my 7 year old had no trouble at all controlling her horse. Our guide Devin was very friendly and knowledgable teaching us riding techniques thoughout our scenic trail adventure. Thank u we will be back our next trip through!

We loved our car ride to Horseshoe Creek, our guide Gary was amazing and went above and beyond. He took some amazing photos of my husband and I throughout our ride. He was knowledgeable, local and someone we absolutely loved spending three hours with. I would recommend Horseshoe Creek to everyone. Beginners and comfortable riders!!!

After our experience last year at a stable in NC, I was very hesitant to book another horse ride; however, it means the world to my daughter so.... At first I was worried that we had made another error when Gary didn't show. Turns out he had a problem with a bear at this pastures so he was late from getting the horses corralled, etc. He is a super nice man, great attitude, and very considerate of our abilities (or lack thereof) when it's comes to horse riding. You meet him at a church parking lot and then follow him a bit of a distance off the main road to where the horses are. Lots of twists and turns but Gary was great about slowing and making sure not to lose us. He introduced us to the horses and helped us get settled in (or on). Devin is the lady who actually took us on the trail. She was very friendly and a joy to ride with. We loved the ride even though it rained most of the way, and we were soaked by the end of the ride. The horses are incredibly well-behaved and very easy to ride. The trails great with fantastic scenery of the Gawley River, waterfall, huge rocks, etc. Gary does ask that you pay in cash so stop at the ATM first. Every dollar is well spent with this stable!!! Thanks for making my daughter's day (and mine)!

My family of four had a great time on a three hour ride last week. Gary is every bit as friendly as everyone says in the reviews. The only negative we experienced was the need to pay cash only. Gary said that his credit card machine was out of service. Other than that, the horses were very well behaved and very well trained. The stables are well off the main highway, so be prepared for a long ride to them on a narrow winding country road. The scenery while on the horses was beautiful, with several waterfalls along the way. Be warned that if you're not used to horse back riding that you will experience some discomfort in your legs and butt if you're on the horses for several hours. We all recovered fairly quickly afterwards, though. Keep all belongings secure as well while on the horses. My wife lost her prescription sunglasses on the ride during one of the gallops.

Our family of 6 just returned from an amazing journey with Gary and 6 of his beautiful horses. Gary's personality is awesome. He was so knowledgeable about the area , his horses and all the bits of info he shared long the way. We had 2 - 1 st time riders who loved their experience. This stable is off the beaten path but well worth it for the time we shared with this exuberant man who loves his horses and cares for his riders. I just can't praise this experience enough. Thank you Gary you are a GEM!

We had a group of four, w 3 of us experienced w horses; and all 4 of us felt that this was the best experience ever w a trail ride w a riding stable. Friendly people, who it was easy to see truly cared about their horses. Absolutely fantastic, well trained, calm horses. Prices cheaper than the outfits associated with the whitewater rafting businesses. The scenery was absolutely spectacular, and the guides were great fun. We went on a trail ride out west last summer near Yellowstone/Grand Tetons, that we thought could not be topped; but this one topped it....We plan to go back and ride again!...One heads up, the place is very much out in the country and is a bit difficult to locate, but our guide actually drove out to meet us to follow him back to the location! This is the place to go if you are a true lover of riding horses! I forgot to mention, it was not a simple, boring nose to tail trail ride, we crossed creeks, we were able to trot and even canter w the horses for a bit....absolutely outstanding!
