Wow! If you're in the area, do not miss this stop. Right outside of Beckley and very close to New River whitewater rafting activities. This building operated as a company store for the local coal mining company that began operations in about 1893. The design of the building is like no other. The building is a labor of love for the owners who bought it a few years ago when it was just days from being torn down. They continue to piece its history back together.Open in the summers (from May through October). Amazing experience!

My husband and I found this pamphlet while in Oak Hill, West Virginia so I am quoting word from word: " Discover the rich history as we celebrate the heritage of the West Virginia coal miner their families and the coal camp life. You're invited to explore the many cultural and historical treasures that abound in this 1890 original coal camp company store".This attraction is a must...you will find out all kinds of information about the life of the coal miners and hear some truths about the miners of what isn't told in the news or television. The company store (what they did to the miners and their families)........Oh gosh, so much history about the building. It's almost unbelievable on what the Company store did. I don't want to ruin it but there are all kinds of secrets you will get to hear and things you will get to experience. You don't want to miss this attraction. It's one of the most interesting places that my husband and I have visited.
