harrah's casino

The chandeliers in the casino are dirty and yield poor lighting. The smoke exhaust system seems to be very ineffective. Enjoyed the first time, but the second and third times, felt it was dirty and stuffy.

The likes is pretty good and the stay is good. I like the complimentary breakfast and the suite are nice. But it is so far away from everything! So the drive is not good.

I can not understand why Harrah's sold their beautiful hotel andcasino in Shreveport to Boyd Gaming some ten or eleven yearsago to move across the Red River to the Louisiana Downs Race-track in Bossier City. While the other Shreveport/Bossier Citycasinos are conveniently located to each other (some 2 -4 milesapart), Harrah's is in a remote area off the I-220 Loop and Texas Street and has relegated itself to an average, middle of the roadcasino with very little going for itself except for the racetrack when it's open.When they initially moved to the racetrack, I would journey out on rare occasions, on some of my casino trips, to play videopoker, my primary game of choice. On one visit, some yearsago when I couldn't locate the video poker machines, I was toldthat they no longer had video poker. I surmised that the reasonfor the change was due to some of the screwed-up gambling laws in Louisiana and Mississippi - like because they're notoperated on a boat like the other six casinos. They lost most ofmy business right then. In addition to the lack of video pokermachines, they also do not have any table games, or even a real bar for that matter.If you go to the casinos strictly for the slot machines, you mightenjoy Harrah's, because that's all they offer. Their spaciouscasino does have a wide-variety of slots, drinks distributed oncarts, soft drink machines with free drinks and coffee, and veryhelpful, personable, and friendly personnel throughout.In moving from their top-notch Shreveport location, they also lost their beautiful high-rise hotel. At the racetrack they do havethe SpringHill Suites Hotel, which they have partnered with, thatis located only a couple of hundred yards from their front door, in addition to several other hotels around town. While the SpringHills Suites is extremely nice, I can't speak to their otherpartnered facilities. But overall though, Harrah's really went down hill, especially from where they came from.

Brought in the new year in style... Gambling! :) It's a nice place to have fun. Plenty of machines & a lot of people. Is a smoking establishment so if that's not your thing you probably won't like it there. (I don't but I tolerated it for the night). Had a lot of fun & would return again.

This is place to go if you want peace, relaxation. we you walk through the doors of this casino you are well greeted. Good ole southern hospitality. It's a one floor casino with plenty of slot machines but no table games. The folks here are very nice. Lots of neighborhood people hang out here on a daily basic. If you want a drink here, the waiters are indeed the best out of ALL the casinos in town. They walk around rolling a huge bar on wheels and you will have no problems finding them if their not in your area. It is so relaxing and layed back here. You if you like to play the horses there's a place you can place your bets and watch the horses run. The food is good but I love the place where you can order and have your food cooked on the spot. If you're a burger lover, they have regular size burgers and they have this HUGE burger that will fill any hungry stomach and you add your own trimming. Yummy! So if you're in town go by and have some fun and relax your feet with the friendly folks in town. There's a place fro truckers to park.

I would recommend visiting this casino if you are in the area. It is a little old and dated (and consists mainly of slot machines), but the staff are some of the nicest people I've encountered while travelling through the USA. Beware if you are Canadian - it may take them a while to verify your ID, but they are very nice as you wait!

This was my first ever trip to a casino and it won't be my last! The staff here were very friendly and helped me and my boyfriend out with some of the machines since it was our first time. This casino is nothing but slot machines, and they also have an area just for betting on horse racing. It was an interesting, yet fun experience. Thanks to the staff at Harrah's, this won't be my last time in a casino!

My wife and I spent a long Thanksgiving weekend in Shreveport and spent a lot of time at Harrahs. The gambling was very good for my wife,not so much for me. The employees were some of the friendliest people anywhere. We are not hi rollers in any way but were treated so great by everyone we met. Win or lose we will be sure to visit again. We ate at the buffet on Thanksgiving and were not pleased,the food was mediocre at best and for what we paid it was not worth it.

We used to go all the time, play for awhile then get a free buffett...not anymore, no more free buffets, so now we are going to the other casinos

Best casino in Shreveport / Bossier City area. Great lighting, plenty of games, large gaming areas. Plenty of complimentary drinks with or without alcohol.

Played slots and they were very tight. Didn't get to play very long and stay within our budget. Did not try any other games or even know what is offered.

We were in Shreveport for my husband's birthday. We stayed at a nearby hotel and walked to Harrah's just to have a little fun. The first night we played a little bit. The second night we signed up for rewards cards and got free t-shirts. They also gave my husband a button that said "It's My Birthday!" We ate at Fuddruckers the first night and had the buffet the second night. Both were great. We didn't win any money, but we had a blast anyway. And of course, free drinks at the casino, so that's always great! Adrian the bartender made some delicious drinks.

Husband and I like to take advantage of the free night stay offers and I have never been to Shreveport/Bossier City so I said why not. Harrah's Louisiana Downs Casino is just a room full of slot machines. We did not get to partake in the horseracing because there were other things we wanted to see while in the area (gators, duck commander, etcetera). My husband likes the tables so it was disappointing there were none so just know that in advance. Harrah's does not have an actual hotel of its own at this location. Instead, they put you up at their partner hotels, which are in walking distance for healthy people (I would not recommend walking if you have bum legs, etc. just because it is close but like a city block close). They put us up at the Marriott Springfield Suites and it was nice for the most part. I will do a review for it separately.

Yes I won and yes that was great but the staff was superb. The gentleman who walked the casino floor wore a smile the entire time and ever other staff member we encountered seemed genuinely happy. It made the experience more memorable and quiet honestly it made us want to stay longer.I will make this the only casino I visit while in Bossier!

We spent over 200 and didnt even get any play back. altho teh staff there is awsome. the restrooms are always clean
