One of the best courses I have played....watch for the wildlife also! Challenging and tight course!Staff was very friendly and look forward to playing again!

Played here for the first time and was impressed. Not a difficult course but does offer some challenge with a few deep bunkers and sand/trees protecting the greens. Great little added touches that I haven't seen before are chilled apples and individually wrapped cold towels on two of the holes. Service in the pro shop was outstanding. The greens and fairways were in good condition (could tell that the greens were at the end of recovering from aeration). Gave them a 4 star because they do not have a marshal going around keeping the play on time - this is must as the course is busy and they let groups of 5 play and even saw a group of 6. Book an early tee time and you may be able to finish in 4 hours.

I'm part of a group from Texas that comes here every year, and have always liked it. It's a fun and challenging lay-out, and was in great shape. The greens were a bit bumpy from a recent aeration, but otherwise okay. The problem I have is with the green fees. They keep going up, This time we paid over $80 for cart and green fee, with range balls extra. That's more than I've ever paid at any course in the area. The next day we played a comparable track with much better greens, Gray Plantation. Cart and green fee was $31, and range balls were free. I may not go back to Contraband.

I gave this a 4 because on our game day they had aerated the greens and fairways. But the course was discounted at $39 for it. I played here for my first time and I live in the area. I played on a Thursday morning and there was hardly anyone there. I was greeted by the cart service and the valet quickly got my cart and bag ready. On holiday weekends I know it's almost impossible to get a tee time so book early if your planning on staying at the casino.The staff is very friendly, even the guys cutting the grass waved and said hello. I visited the practice range before my game and was given a complimentary bag of balls. The pro shop is very nice and comfortable. The carts have ice chests on them and come with complimentary cool towels and ice. I am a beginner and I had the best game I have played so far here. The course is layers out well and the gps on the carts makes it very helpful for your first time playing. There were plenty of opportunities to bring out the driver and let it rip. The beverage and food cart came by 3 times on our 18. There are several barrels on the course that have iced apples which was really nice too. The restrooms were very clean and air conditioned which was nice as it was 91 degrees on the day we played. Overall I enjoyed the course and felt like I was on vacation with the casino looming overhead in the distance, even though I live here. Great place to play.

Played in a golf event here and the course in my opinion wasn't up to par as other casino courses or some other courses in the area.The service and employees are all top notch, but the course didn't match up to them.Greens and tee boxes where muni like, farways and bunkers where in great shape.

Great service, nicely equipped carts and good playing course. Fairways are well maintained. Narrow play required. Interesting water hazards - alligators abound but so do other water critters. Definitely looking forward to returning to play.

Course was in decent shape except for the greens,they definitely need a lot of work. Extremely slow play due to a group of three ahead of us that acted like they were the only ones on the course. There should be a Marshall to ensure the pace of play is kept reasonable. Great layout and the staff were very friendly. Will give it one more try to see if this was just a one time problem or if it is like this all the time.

Had fantasy football outing and course was in great shape, well maintained and all the personnel were accommodating.

I personally love playing this course. It is a wonderful and fun course. One would surely want to go back.

This course has drainage issues. Cart path only is a frequent rule. The green have historically had issues with being green. The course is short and pretty well designed. I would give it a 6 of 10 rating.

Travelled in for a nice round of golf with friends at the casino, We had to wait at each tee box over twenty minutes on 5 holes because it was plsying so slow. They apparently crammed the course and did not have Marshall's our. The greens were the worst I have played in years, very rough and painted. Would not go back!

the course needed work the last time I played it mostly in the sand bunkers and they were working on them at the time. the price was extremely high for the course which is disappointing. Not sure what the rates are now. they seemed to want to cater more to the gambling clientel than the locals that just want to play a round of golf. the course is very fun and not too hard to a below average golfer like myself.

Nice course-lots of beautiful holes. The greens were in good shape but the fairways need on going maintenance.

Played from the gold tee boxes and struggled in the sand traps that had very high lips. I'm a 12 handicap and shot 89. First time caused me to make a few rookie mistakes. Screens in the carts with yardage and tips were great.

This course has great potential. The layout was designed by one of the better known gold course design architects. They lost the greens a couple of years ago, but have made a good effort to restore the course. Great views, convenient access, great design. Recommend you play this course if in Lake Charles for a few days. You will enjoy your round
