Just a beautiful oasis! We love driving through very slowly to listen to the birds and the water. The road is very narrow, and parking spots are too few. There are often hikers, and families can be found hanging out in the several bends, playing in the rocks and water, and soaking in the atmosphere near the waterfalls. Thanks to Forever Wild, this natural treasure will be saved for future visitors to savor.

I was baptized in Turkey Creek as a child so it has always held a special place in my heart. This is a beautiful location. Come just to enjoy the sites, sounds and experiences to be had or schedule an educational field trip. You can't go wrong!

My family and I attended the Turkey Creek annual boat races. Of course, the boats were small balsa-wood boats that children could "buy" for $1 each. Then the whole group of "boats" were set afloat to race downstream. This was a good fund-raiser for the community. My son had a fun time. Maybe next year he will be old enough to build a boat himself. There were some local vendors with food and pop-cicles for the kids. Also some arts/crafts booths.

This is a nice place, and I have been coming here since I was a very young boy. It is great that it has been made a "Forever Wild" site. The improvements are many and much needed. There are a few issues that should be addressed however. For those of you out there that have little concept of respect for nature there is this, TAKE YOUR GARBAGE WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE!!!! Next, those of you who feel the need to bring your dog, KEEP THEM OUT OF THE WATER!!!!, it is a SANITARY thing and this is not a 3rd world country. Last but not least, if your kids are in diapers PLEASE ensure they are SWIM DIAPERS!!!!I had an idea come to me; broken glass containment boxes. If everyone helped to pickup the broken glass, bit by bit, one day it might all be gone. The glass could then be melted down by an art student at BSC and made into "Turkey Creek" souvenirs to be sold or auctioned to raise money for the preserve in order to fund other improvements. I hope that it gets more funding because this is a true gem and if Ruffner Mtn. gets money to build buildings and paved parking why not Turkey Creek?

Beautiful place. Had the rushing waters. Reminds me of the streams along Gatlinburg TN. Has benches to sit and enjoy the views. People swim and play in the water.

A really nice, quite place to walk along the creek side. We were there with some friends for a relaxing afternoon. The fall leaves were just beautiful and the hike along the creek was very peacefull with a number of benches so you could just sit and enjoy the sights and sounds.

My hat is off to the folks in charge of this great little get away!I have lived in the Pinson area for 50 years and I can say from first hand experience, this place has never looked so nice. The walking trails are great! Catch it early on a fall morning and enjoy the sounds of waterfalls and woodpeckers while the sun begins to climb the hills of Mt. Pinson. A little history for you younger folks, and for those who may wonder where in the world I came up with my name? Before this area was know as Pinson, AL, it was actually known as "Bullfrog Bend" that's right folks! Now get out to "Bullfrog Bend" and walk the banks of Turkey Creek along the bends of "slick rock" and enjoy a little piece of heaven in my town!

This little preserve is tucked away in the forest near Pinson, but it is a long-time favorite with the locals. The clear, spring-fed water is always cool and fresh even on the hottest of days. It does get quite crowded and parking can be a problem. Note that it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, even on holidays.

there is a creek that is good for swimming in. Sometimes gets very crowded and can be dangerous with rocks and rapids in creek.

Birmingham Southern College runs this area that is an easy drive from Birmingham. You can take tubes and float the creek for a long way just like a lazy river. There are also walking trails, Nature Center, and really nice picnic pavilions. The end of the creek has small water fall that the kids will ride the middle down like a slide. There is no cost and the creek water is amazingly clean and clear. I do recommend you taking shoes or at least socks because the water fall area is slippery barefooted.
