I played each well designed course. Both are challenging with excellent greens. Pros and staff very professional and attentive

Spouse and I played (5 and 16 handicaps, respectively). Course was well maintained and in good shape in early January. We found it to be fair for both our skill levels. Staff was attentive and the grill had a good variety on its menu. It was pretty chilly (for the coastal south), and after we finished playing the chili we ordered was just the ticket for warming up.

Good food, nice atmosphere. A bit pricey at $125 a couple plus tip. Would go a lot more often if it was a little more reasonable. Asked to buy 2 pieces of some bread pudding from the buffet to bring home because it looked good and I was too full to eat. Charged me an additional $16 for 2 small pieces making our bill $180. It was the end of the day and they were throwing it away anyway. Would have been nice if they would have thrown that in.

This course provides good challenges but not overly aggressive play... It does have an alligator on the course so if you get a ball near what looks to be a moving log... Better leave it alone & drop one... Course is well maintained & overall I think it's a lot of fun to play multiple rounds on...

We liked the Dogwood Course. Fun to play -- some wide fairways and is a fair course. The Azalea Course was rather ordinary. Clubhouse is nice and service friendly. We had beautiful weather.

Nice beautiful course. We enjoyed the course very much! It was rather long for our skill level, but we enjoyed it anyway..

Played alone and could play very fast since the course was not crowded even though the hotel was full. The reduced green fee made it doubly enjoyable.

A very nice course across the street from The Grand Hotel. There are two 18 hole courses that are managed by RTJ.

This was our second time visiting The Grand. The first time we went in September and decided we'd be better off coming back when it was warmer, so this time we came in May. It was definitely more crowded than in September, but still a great vacation. The spa was absolutely lovely, I did the hot stone foot massage and pedicure, my sister did a full body massage and petite pedicure (the petite is so good, you don't really need to splurge on the full pedi/mani). We spent a lot of time at the pool with my niece. The activities planned each night were also a lot of fun from making s'mores on the beach to the movie night (only bad thing about movie night is you had to be in the pool the actually see/enjoy the movie). We'll be back!

Great service, beautiful scenery, handsome woodsy clubhouse and good food. Feels like a members only golf club.

Lakewood has two courses. I much prefer Dogwood over Azalea. Lakewood's clubhouse is historic, but in need of brightening and an expanded menu. As this is part of the Grand Hotel, it is surprising that there is not a better 19th hole experience. Still, the courses are well maintained and the service is excellent.

i am writting this review on behalf of my husband who recently played golf at this resort. He played both courses and there were in excellent shape. The staff was very friendly , a special thank you to Mr Niall Fraser who made him feel so welcome . He will definately go back.

I enjoyed my play here. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best but this is a very nice but challenging golf course. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Played both courses and they were both in excellent shape. Fairways, greens and course in general were very nice for this time of the year. Staff was very friendly and made it a great experience for everyone.

Lakewood Golf Club is a beautiful club on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. The golf course is extremely well kept and fun to play. The club house is like an antique, a lovely piece of the past. Service is excellent, elegant, and very Old South.
