Great hiking trails. Most people would not believe this is Alabama with the vistas. We enjoyed the picnic shelters. The cabins look like they would be fun to try on a cool autumn night with a fire.

Drove over to hike and geocache. So many trails and all with history. The views are second to none! The drive up and down are also very beautiful. The bike trails are everywhere! Very well maintained and so very many geocaches! The stone cabins look inviting.

The view of the city is great. A nice asset to an otherwise mediocre city. We'll MISS the Fog Cutter Restaurant with the fog horn at the maitre d's desk.

Monte Sano is my breath of fresh air and outdoor therapy. I love running the trails, feeling energized and just enjoying the wonders of nature.

The park is beautiful, well preserved with cabins, horse stables, hiking trails, and a new building that can be reserved for gatherings, weddings, reunions, and other things. There is camping, barbecue pits, picnic tables, and restrooms, water fountains, overlooks, and playground equipment. There is a small fee. Recommend it.

We used the primitive camp site and really enjoyed our weekend. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean! The only negative I had was in regards to the cub scout group that was staying a couple of sites down from us. The children were running wild and the adults were blind. I mentioned going to speak with a park ranger and I was told that it wouldn't do any good. Apparently, the boy scouts and other like groups are given preferential treatment.

Great campground, close to 5 points and downtown restaurants. Sites are spaced good and all have fire pits. Only some of the sites have sewer, but the dump sites are convenient.

We stay here on our way to ark. To visit family. Very nice place to spend a couple days after being on the road. Motorcycle friendly camp ground for $65 a night. Great views and hiking. Country store at bottom of the mountain

We popped into the park for a quick look around, just to see what it was all about. It offers stunning overlooks and miles hiking and mountain biking trails. We took a quick hike to the Japanese Tea Garden, which features a quaint pagoda in the middle of the woods. We can't wait to return for a long weekend to stay in the charming stone cabins and explore the many trails.

Thought the park was all there was when we turned off the main highway. Did not realize there were houses in the area. The lodge was a beautiful setting for a fall wedding.

This park is completely beautiful. They have a number of different trails depending on how far you want to walk or ride your bike.

This is a great place to stay if you love to hike, bike ride, or relax by the fire and look at the mountains. You can see the sun rise and set here. There are a lot of places to take hikes and take pictures. Love love love this place! The cabins have been updated very recently. They have a full kitchen, working wood fireplace, beds, table and 4 chairs, couch, and bathroom with shower. They have a screened in porch with chairs, firepit with wood already chopped and ready to go, and a picnic table. There is also the park to go to for the day, if you don't want to stay at the cabins.

We wanted to go to the Space Center on our way south and decided to layover in Huntsville for a couple nights. We picked this campground without a lot of analysis because it was close to the Center and we were only staying two nights. What a wonderful surprise!! First we had no idea that the campground would be on top of a hill with a beautiful view. The sites were trees and spacious. We got water and electric, full hook ups are not reservable and were occupied. We walked on the trails. We also are into astronomy and had no idea that a observatory and planetarium are in the state park. We went to the 7:30pm show and had a great time talking to the astronomers! I really liked this place a lot and would stop here again!

If woods hiking is what you love, with the occasional view then this park is perfect, I did the mountain mist trial, it's not too hard but long, be aware the trail ends and then you have to take a country road walk back to the start it's not a loop trial, this takes around 30 minutes and makes the hike around 3-4 hours
