Recently, we were having a reunion in Auburn and went to this wonderful museum. It is amazing the art work that is on display in this small town. We really enjoyed eveything and the beautiful bowl made from one of the Toomer's oaks was an added plus!! This is a "must see"!

When we visited, the museum had a temporary exhibit of European art from the Speed Museum in Louisville. That was why we went, but we were at least as taken by another temporary exhibit, of works by an Auburn alumnus, and by the selection from the museum's permanent collection of works, many with an Alabama connection.The building itself is very fine.

Jule Collins Smith has bequeathed a beautiful museum with a staff, from greeters to education director, who make everyone feel welcome. Intriguing exhibits. A great set of public events.

Not much In this museum. Some paintings , some sculptures. Not much to look at but a quick stop . Very disappointing for such a big building

Love the Chihuly chandelier. Beautiful grounds, close to campus on College Street. Would love to see an exhibit from Auburn graduates.

The collection is small but well presented in a beautiful building. The Chihuly sculpture sets off the "entrance" though most would enter the building from the other side. A good way to spend an hour or so.

While the musical performances do not continue during the summer, the offerings during the rest of the year are excellent. On Thursdays at noon there are wonderful free concerts, with pianists, guitarists, singers, ethnic musicians, and other artists. Yesterday, I heard a world-class pianist, Tzu-yi Chen, play Mussorgsky's Pictures from an Exhibition. Thursday evenings there is a jazz trio playing on the patio, always delightful. There is a nice little restaurant serving good lunches and tapas in the evening.The art displays are always changing, and once there was a traveling Rodin sculpture exhibit. This is a place to feed all your senses.

The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art is a terrific small university museum. Located on South College Street less than a mile from downtown, you will discover a beautiful modern building with a big lake in the front and beautifully landscaped grounds. The museum features contemporary exhibitions that change several times a year. The permanent collection includes an impressive glass work by Dale Chihuly as well as an extensive collection of Audubon prints. There is also a fine gift shop and an excellent cafe. If you are visiting Auburn, even for a day, this museum is an interesting and fun place to experience.

First impressions of the JCSM are that it is a beautiful modern building close to the main campus of Auburn University. There are some abstract pieces located on the grounds outside the museum. Upon entering there is a nice gift shop and facilities and what I've been told is a wonderful little cafe. I didn't try the cafe though. In the main foyer is a gorgeous chandelier made of funky glass quirks. It was one of the nicest pieces in the museum so be sure to look up. They have a permanent collection and a temporary exhibition. The permanent collection is interesting and I was excited to see works of Mexican artists like Diego Rivera, especially since I just returned from Mexico City recently. There are more abstract sculptures, lithographs and paintings as well. The story of how the museum acquired the pieces is also interesting. They were setting up for a new temporary photography exhibition so I didn't get to see that gallery. I will definitely return to see the temporary exhibition on another day and try the cafe too. This museum is a great addition to the city of Auburn and should be on anyone's list who is interested in the arts.

JCSM is housed in a beautiful building on a gorgeous site near Auburn University. Outside the museum is a walking/running trail that winds around the lake/pond that the museum overlooks where you can find many folks enjoying the view while they get some exercise. Inside are several interesting galleries with various exhibits, a small but clever gift shop, and a great cafe with a good selection of drinks and delicious (but limited) menu.

An interesting permanent collection housed in a recently constructed, modern building. There's a nice café and small auditorium for musical groups and lectures. Most unfortunately, the building faces west and the large expanse of glass windows admits a blinding amount of sunlight in the afternoon, making the main hallway unfit for paintings and other artwork at risk of damage from strong light. The museum has yet to attain its potential.

I’ve driven by the gorgeous building and grounds of the Jule Collins Smith Museum on several occasions, but never stopped in. So, on a recent visit to Auburn I was pleased to learn the museum was open on Monday, traditionally a day when museums are closed.With just six galleries it’s an easy visit. Lithographs from the permanent collection and from the Tamarind Institute occupied half the galleries. Plus there was a sculpture exhibit by Jean Woodham. I found myself most taken by the lithographs, including those by big name artists like Chagall, Picasso and Matisse. The museum also holds more than 100 prints by John James Audubon in its permanent collection and I’d love to return when those are being exhibited. I’ll definitely check to see what’s showing during future trips to Auburn.In addition, there’s an eye catching 17 foot Dale Chihuly chandelier in the main entrance and a great gift shop, especially for a museum this size. You should go visit. Even in a small museum, you’re bound to find something you like. Best of all, it’s free.

The JCSMFA is one of Auburn's treasures. Now celebrating its 10th birthday, the museum continues to sponsor outstanding exhibitions and creative programming for all ages. The museum cafe, open from 11-2 Tuesday through Friday is a delightful place to enjoy an inexpensive lunch before or after touring the galleries. Don't skip a visit to the gift shop, which offers lovely items at very reasonable prices.

Very Nice! Definitely worth the trip! The art collection is constantly renewed and/or augmented. Makes for a nice family outing.

Although the menu is limited, the museum cafe is, in my opinion, one of the best places in Auburn to meet friends for lunch. For $7 a customer can have a chicken salad plate or a panini, with chips and a warm, homemade sweet muffin. Located in the lovely Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, this is a wonderful place for lunch. It's open Tuesday through Friday from 11-2. Afterwards, guests may visit the galleries for no charge.
