I went with my 8 year old daughter. They have a children's interactive section which she enjoyed. Then we got a bag filled with props and a book with pictures of pieces of art found in the museum. We looked for the art pieces and then did different activities with the props in the bag to learn more about the piece of art. It was a lot of fun. My only complaint was that 3 of the pieces had been taken down for an auction that was at the museum so we wandered around awhile looking for them. Finally, we asked a security guard who was very familiar with which pieces were still up and which were in the vault.

I only got to see the visiting exhibit, "Reflections" which was well worth the visit alone. It is the private collection of Myrna Colley-Lee and has wonderful pieces of African-American art. I was also pleasantly surprised to meet Ms. Colley-Lee while I was there!I was greeted warmly by the staff and I look forward to going back to spend more time in this beautiful museum. The park around it is gorgeous!

We stopped here with local friends to see the art for about an hour as we arrived late in town. The museum is not huge so very easy to stroll through and could spend more time. They have a nice variety of personal collections with often changing displays. The children's section with hands on is great, along with available classes. The staff was very friendly.

I've been going here since I was a kid. There's a lot of great pieces here including but not limited to paintings, sculptures, china, ect. One of my favorite parts is in the kid's center they have a screen you can move in front of that puts off rainbow projections of yourself. It's great!

The museum has a beautiful building and an interesting collection. It was a great visit. The special exhibition dresses were unusual.

After moving to the area, we were delighted to find a modern, clean art gallery in the Montgomery area. Maybe I'm jaded, but central Alabama was not a place renowned for its arts culture. So, this free museum was an added benefit to match the hospitality and friendliness of Montgomery. My wife joined a stained glass class after our first visit and has enjoyed that experience, too.The museum features rotating exhibits, plus plenty of local and regional shows from photography to traditional artwork to multi-modal works. For a nice afternoon, give yourself at least an hour or more, preferably 2 to see everything.

I lived in Montgomery, AL for three years (2006 - 2009) and can say that when it comes to culture and the arts, your choices are somewhat limited. The MMFA is a great fine arts museum that only takes a few hours to tour. The museum itself is free (they accept donations) and the range in art varies from classic to modern and there are some interactive things for kids to do as well. Overall, this is a great museum and it is very close to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Blount Park. There is a wonderful café inside the museum and a cute gift shop too. When in Montgomery, this is a great day to spend two to four hours of time.Enjoy!

Growing up near this Museum, I kind of took it for granted that someplace this nice included admission for free. As I've begun traveling across the nation, I've realized that museums this nice rarely don't charge admission. It's a beautiful venue filled with equally beautiful art and they've had some pretty impressive exhibitions and lectures over the years. The children's part of the museum has really grown over the years and is a great place to see regardless of whether you're in the museum with kids. It's filled with all sorts of interactive exhibits that are fun for any age. The museum shop is also a great place to visit and support the Museum. Don't miss this - it's an incredible attraction and bargain!

I love the collection of immigrant american art work and the Cézanne still life on top of the Tiffany glass expo, the view from the glass room was pretty cool and worth it all together.

What a wonderful surprise! We were looking for something to do for a few hours and this fitted the bill. Stunning location, well organized exhibits and delicious lunch in the cafe, too. Highly recommended.

The grounds are peaceful, great selection of art work. It was free, but one can leave a donation. Like how they incorporated out door art work with the windows. Beautiful sunset views.

This place was amazing, and free to boot! Great place to go on a hot Alabama summer day... The artwork was fabulous, the kids section was pretty darn awesome. One really amazing feature of this museum is the stain glass windows and Art works, the museum created for children.
