It will cost you $25 for a view that just isn't that impressive. The restaurant up top was decent... friendly staff and okay food, but definitely not worth the trip up.

The best way to the top..... A quick easy ride run by very professional Alyeska staff. Also, the best way to get down to avoid all the flats at the bottom of the moujntain!

We rode the tram on a snowy day and it was beautiful seeing the surrounding area! A must do if your in the area!

This $20 ride is definitely a little pricey, but it is 100% worth the cost, especially if you have a discount from the Northern Lights coupon book. Once you've reached the top, you can spend as long as you'd like gazing out over the Turnagain arm. I grew up in Anchorage and this was still an amazing sight for me as a local - I know it is even more breathtaking to non-Alaskans.

The tram ride up to the top of this ski resort is spectacular ! You get a GREAT view of the Village of Girdwood and the Cook inlet in the valley. The lady that operated the car that we rode in knew the area very well and had good answers for any questions asked of her on our ride up and back down. Was warm in the valley, but when we arrived at the top it was cool windy and we had a rain shower. We would definitely do this trip again.

During our trip to Mt Alyeska the tram was free to all visitors. We enjoyed the ride and views. We also want to give special shout out to our tram operator who is from the great state of Ohio-Go Bucks!

We had a perfect day to go up to the top of the mountain. I would only do it if a nice clear day, but well worth the money for the view. Don't eat at the hotel - see my review on Aurora Bar & Grill - I would eat up at the top of the mountain. In the "ski hut" there is a great movie playing which gives you the history of the mountain which is very interesting.

Take the tram and get discount on food up at the top. Walk around, look, eat drink and be merry..... Stay a while to watch the weather change before your very eyes. Turnagin arm, glaciers and more, Oh My!

The tram ride is pretty quick, the tram operator was knowledgable and answered all of our questions, and the view at the top was great. The $20 fee per person was pretty steep but you can ride all day. We also saw a bear down below while we were going up. I don't think we would ever do it again but it was worth it for the one time we went. Also, there are lots of hiking trails and other things to do in the area.

Pick a clear day and you'll be rewarded with lovely panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, the Alyeska Glacier and Turnagain Arm. The tram ride itself is pleasant and takes less than 10 mins - you'll think is goes too quick. If your not taking one of the walking trails then just wander around the area and take in the views, sympathise with the hikers climbing up & watch those mountain bikers braving the ride down. The museum is more gift shop than attractions but worth spending 10-15 mins on. The cafe was very popular, soup & coffee selling fast.

While visiting Girdwood I decided to take Mt. Alyeska tram up to the top of the mountain and see the beautiful vistas and views from the the summit. On a clear Day you can see out into the Cook Inlet and view a nearby glacier, as well as the beautiful forest in Girdwood below the tram path. The price of this attraction is $25.00 and that is for a trip up to the top of the mountain and back down on the tram. When it is cloudy or foggy you cannot see that much from the tram. But when it is clear out the views are spectacular. There is not that much to do at the top of the mountain besides a viewing tower and a couple of restaurants. There is a small gift shop and Museum, and during off-season mountain bikers use the ski left to get their bikes to the top so they can ride them down. If you are in Girdwood on a clear day I would make the trip to the resort and take the tram to the top!

We were there at the end of the season and rode up with only 2 other people. The views were breathtaking. I'm so glad I visited this town and rode the tram. The resort is amazing and I will be back to go skiing in the winter. We had the pleasure of talking to the tram guide and learning about the area and his personal travels. This was so worth the money. They also have a great gift ship on the mountain where I found a lot of great gifts and keepsakes.

We went up on the mountain early in the morning on the first tram on August 31. There were only 4 passengers and 2 restaurant employees on the ride up. The young man who was our attendant was informative but almost robotic in his narration. The lady who rode back down with us was very friendly and talkative. The views are breathtaking from the top. Anyone traveling between Anchorage and Seward needs to take this in.

The Alyeska tram provides one of the most breathtaking views in south-central Alaska. It is different from day to day and season to season. The price is steep for a 4 minute ride to the top ($25), but is easier on the legs. If you want to get the lung busting exercise of hiking up the North Face trail (~2100' gain) you can ride back down for free. Essentially all the two-way riders subsidize the return rides of the hikers. Ultimately it was a ride worth taking (come back during ski season as well).

The view was great but somewhat clouded with the heavy fog. We got the tickets as part of our tour or we probably would have skipped because of the fog. If it is clear, don't miss it, if it is foggy, you may want to skip it because there will be little to see. We did have a partial view so it was a nice ride and view.
