mt. fairweather golf course

A fun and funky course with pull carts and an unusual array of used clubs. Just put your money in the jar and you're on your own! The antique tractors dotted through out the course were as picture worthy as the beautiful mountain vistas in the background!

After winning a gift certificate to play golf from a fundraising auction, we decided to make the short trip to Gustavus from Juneau.The golf course was great, lots of fun, and the views were spectacular. The course runs on the honest system with a round of golf costing $15/person. Golf balls, tees, a pull cart, used clubs, and beverages (water/soda) are also available.

Alaska at this time of the year only gets dark around midnight until 3am in the morning. So we played golf after dinner with Chef Jon from Glacier Bay Country Inn. It is done on a honor system by putting $15 per person which includes used golf clubs ( this was fun finding the right club to hit your shot) balls, tees and a pull cart into a box. The hazards were wild strawberry patches, sand pits and high meadow grasses. We watch the changing sky colors as the sun set. The greens were rugged but fun!

It was a really great course. The owner is a really great guy, and has lived in Gustavus for 40 years, I would definitely recommend. Plus he has rugged cabins for cheaper weekly rentals if you need a place to crash and store gear while backpacking or other excursions
