What a fantastic time I had here. Being privileged enough to get close and photo the bears. So close to nature, I felt truly blessed to be so close to these wonderful animals in their habitat. The staff were friendly wishing to share with us the joy of seeing the bears, and feeding us so well. If you wish to see bears up close and personal. Do this trip. It has been life changing for me.

I spent a week with Phil and the team at Alaska Bear Expeditions from July 22-29th 2013. The camp was fantastic and well equipped to handle the alaskan weather and cater to our photography and bear viewing needs. The food and service from the team was excellent, very friendly and helpful whatever the weather or time of day!The bears were superb, they were literally everywhere (saw 15 the afternoon I arrived!).. Phil (the bear guide) knowledge of the bears and the local area was undoubtedly key to the successful placement of the camp, and the resulting bear viewing we had.. (even while eating dinner!) and while out on hikes. We even caught a glimpse of some wolves while out!Excellent value, I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

What can I say about Alaska Bear Expeditions other than WOW! I spent an amazing 7 nights staying at their state of the art campsite complete with solar powered battery chargers to make sure you dont miss that exclusive picture due to lack of battery power! The tents were fantastic and most definitely upto the Alaskan weather as I can testify after a couple of nights torrential rainfall and not a drop getting inside. A bear fence around the camp keeps the critters on the right side of camp but don`t worry they still like to take a walk by including Foxes,wolves and the odd Bald Eagle.The Camp is also Eco friendly with everything thats brought in being bagged and taken back out to ensure nothing is left behind and to make sure that there is little or no impact left on the natural habitat by your visit! Phil our guide was excellent and made sure we were set for everyday out in the field asking what your after image wise and how far you are upto hiking to get the shots,be warned your days can be long.....but isn`t that what everyone wants on this kind of adventure? Phil has a great knowledge of the subject species,the Coastal Brown Bear and treats the animals with the upmost respect,recognising when an animal isn`t really relaxed or becoming agitated in anyway,aswell as organising our small group in such a way to make us look less threatening to the Bears. During our visit we had some unbelievable encounters with bears,foxes and wolves wether it be in the meadows of Hallo Bay or on the beach which was a matter of yards from our camp.Evenings spent sitting on the washed up logs on the beach waiting to see if the evening fox would be along beach combing as you looked out over Hallo Bay towards Kodiak Island made for a true adventure of a lifetime!! Will I be back? What do you think...I`ve already booked for 2013!!!!
