I have not personally been halibut fishing with Bob but I have sent many clients to fish with him as part of their fishing package. (I get seasick and whine alot). I ask EVERY client about their experience after they have fished with other guides I have scheduled them with. I have yet to get as much as a hint of dissatisfaction. They loved the trip, the boat (clean/organized) and the crew was exceptional. It reflects on my company when I send them to fish with others so I am particular with who we use.Bob has never let us down and many clients from the past continue to halibut fish with Bob's.As many of us professionals in this business, we don't see clients as $ signs.... we look at them as friends and potential clients again. If you're looking for an good ol guy that has what it takes, Bob's will get fish in the boat!

My husband and son each caught the limit of 2 for each. He said halibut was easy to catch, could do 1/2 day. At the end of the day you can have them freeze it and ship home. Just make sure at the dock to state if you want the salmon smoked because we did it when we got to their shop and they didn't give it to us.

We booked a 3/4 day Halibut trip with Bob's Charters. They had a full boat and Captain John and his deck hands gave 100% to ensure that we all got our quota. Even those who were feeling a sea sick were encouraged to come out and fish (with the assistance of the crew) once the waters became more calm. They found a great spot for fishing after a few spots. Once we started bringing them in, the crew worked constantly to net, measure, tag, rebate hooks, assist with lines and fishing technique. The day was mostly rainy with a few breaks, but it was still an awesome experience and we will certainly go again.

Going halibut fishing was a major "bucket list" item for me!! Unfortunately, I recently had my left leg amputated and am still in a wheelchair. My wife and I decided to go on the trip.We went out on the "Nauti Lady" with Captain John and crew. I was shocked at the level of customer service they provided during the entire day. Time and time again my wife Sheila &I pleased at the effort the entire crew made the insure we were not only comfortable but having fun,For anyone who faces a challemging disability and dreams of a fishing trip we highly recommend Bob's Trophy Charters!!! We can't wait to go back on our next trip.

We had a beautiful day for a 3/4 day trip on Bob's Trophy Charters. The captain put the boat on some fish nearly as soon as we stopped. Unfortunately nothing we or others were catching that day (on our trip) were too big, but I don't fault them for that. There were as many fish as you wanted to catch, mostly in the 25 to 30 inch range, which are still fun and plenty of work to get in. The boat is well equipped, the gear worked well, there is an indoor seating areas for everyone (would be pretty crowded it all passengers on full boat had wanted to sit inside for the drive out and back - some sat outside as it was so nice out). The boat had plenty of space for everyone to fish and move around. There were several crossed lines, but much of that was probably the passengers fault or a fish that hit and moved around. After the fishing slowed down, the captain moved the boat slightly and the fishing was as fast as could be again. The crew did a great job of running around to help get fish off, putting bait on, and keeping everyone fishing. The only bad review of the crew was when everyone but one person had their 2 fish to keep (one 28" or less, and one any size). For the any size fish, people were trying to hold out for a bigger one. There was plenty of time left on the trip, yet the 2 crew were telling this one person who was left without 2 fish yet all the things they could be doing if they were done fishing now (in other words, just keep the next darn fish mister so we can go home!). This was rather rude as there was plenty of time left on the trip and most of the passengers continued fishing (just couldn't keep what was caught if they had their limit already) on this beautiful and calm day. The captain made his way around and told this person to take their time, but having the crew telling him to keep anything repeatedly was wrong (had it been the end of the time for the trip, I would understand). When this person did catch a smallish fish here and there trying to get the second keeper, the crew were even inflating the size of the fish. The boat was still back on time, so they didn't need to rudely pressure this person.

We did a half day halibut charter and had a riot. They brought us to a spot that produced one fish right after another. Being completely inexperienced with deep sea fishing, Captain John took the time to show many of us how to make sure that your bait was on the bottom and how to hook a fish. After that, hooking a fish was easy. We all caught between 28–38" halibut and I was shocked how hard it was to reel these fish in. We did have a full boat of 17 guests and 3 crew members and at times we did get tangled up with each other, but overall the crew was usually right on top of everything. And the crew made sure that everyone caught their limit while still following the rules. Customer satisfaction was top priority. I would highly recommend taking this charter for a really fun time and thought the crew from Bobs Trophy Charters was a big part of the reason it was so much fun.

Sorry to tinge my review with lousy weather...rain, cloudy & cold even in August. But Captain John and the deck mates Jacob & Joshua were first rate! Everyone caught their quota.

This August my wife and I took 21 of our children and great and grandchildren (four generations) to the Kenai Peninsula for fishing and adventure. Among the best day's was a half day halibut fishing charter with Capt. John and his crew at Bob's Trophy Charters in Homer, Alaska. Seventeen ranging in age from 9 to 74 and what an experience. You could not ask for a nicer crew, attentive to the young ones and even helped the old one. We limited out and the smile on the grandkids faces will always be locked in my memories.

The captains that we had for the 3 days were great to work with as well as their mates. The scenery was fantastic to see with lots of wild live. Caught lots of fish in the 3 days. Got over 100 lbs for 4 people.

Good fishing day. Cost a couple of hundred dollars to throw up in the Pacific Ocean and catch halibut. I wish we could have caught larger halibut, but the ocean had large waves on the day we went out. We were told there would be 10 people on the boat but there was 19 people plus the captain and two crew members. But over all a good fishing trip.

We did a 6 pack on the Tough Stuff in mid July. On the positive side, Mark, the Capt, and Elijah, the first mate were awesome at putting us on the fish, and working hard to keep us baited up and show some of the rookies how to catch a halibut. I have been out on many charters, mostly 50 foot plus, 50 plus miles off the NC coast, so I was quite surprised when at 930AM, when most of the folks had caught their limit, Mark expressed concern re the increasing waves. I can not say if the 35 foot boat could not handle this, or if this impacted fishing, but we all agreed to go with smaller over 29 inch halibut and so rather than hold out for some big ones, we were done at 1030 AM on a full day charter. I wanted a big one, but must admit I was whipped tired too. I did hear of another boat that did not even go out due to the waves, so I do not know, but it did not seem rough to me. On the negative side, Tough Stuff is very "tired". Elijah did a great job of cleaning the fish and the fishing area, but below and especially the head were filthy gross. We had folks who did not get sea sick till they went downstairs. Lights were broken, although not needed and in general the boat was showing its age

My friend and I took a full day trip on July 22 on the Nauti Lady, and it was an incredible experience. Having never experienced a halibut charter, I did not know what to expect. All conditions, which are beyond anyone's control such as weather, whales, tides, etc were perfect. I was most impressed with the staff and the hard work that goes into running the boat and maneuvering all the people fishing. From the moment I walked into Bob's to check in, to leaving the boat, there were friendly faces. The two deck hands Jacob, and "Molokai"( can't remember his name), and Captain John did an outstanding job of helping us newbies, being patient with people, and making sure everyone had a good time. Having never seen deckhands in action, I can tell you they never stopped working. HARD WORK!!! I will recommend this outfit to all my friends and family that travel to Homer in the future.

My husband and his brothers and father booked this trip for today. The boat never showed up. My husband walked to the office and was the told the captain didn't want to fish today! They returned some of the $ but not all. When my husband asked about the rest "Bob" said if he didn't get out if his office he would call the police!! This is their last day in Alaska. They all bought the special licenses...drove 600 miles for no boat and to be threatened by the owner!!! Do not reccomend this place at all!!!
