Good location, Info for area, historic info of RR settlers in area. Christmas is beautiful and the Santa train is beginning of holiday festivities.

Cold and windy was the experience however the small town was a delight this 18th day of January 2014. We visited the KCS Depot Station, a small quaint store, Cowboy and Indians Trading Post ...this store is awesome! We visit the park with its clock, canons, pond full of ducks and geese. We toured the city and viewed some of the old homes. We saw the Police Stations 1939 Dodge Police car ...it was just wonderful if you love the items of yesteryear! Drove up the Talimena Nat'l Scenic drive ...the ice storm has broken so many of the trees.....it is still amazing but not quite the experience we hoped for...it will be back to its beauty in the spring we are sure. It was a 5 star experience for us.

This is a quick stop in the center of town. Here you'll find an old police car from the 50's (?). Nice, quick photo-op. Best light before 10am.

I especially enjoyed the "art gallery." A local artist had painted portraits of several of the local colorful seniors. They were all older folks and the paintings were done in the mid-80s. Caught myself thinking these were all people who were now passed away since the portraits were done.

You can imagine passenger trains stopping here and picking up business travelers and tourists. Today you can find an exhibit on Lum and Abner, a radio show that was famous for almost 25 years. There is no charge and the museum is run by volunteers,
