Call & sign up for the 2 hr tour. They take you by van and you get to visit the insides of the dam. You're given an excellent history and assorted interesting facts by the guide as you walk and see. Not strenuous, might be warm, cool inside. Great local attraction to take out of town visitors to but worth it for yourself.

You can walk across the dam and get a beautiful view of Bull Shoals Lake on one side and the White River on the other.

Visited Mountain Home to research possible trout fishing along the White and Norfolk Rivers and to search for bald eagles in the area. Enjoyed visiting with the North Arkansas Fly Fishing members and seeing our first nesting female bald eagle at the Dam.

Due to the rainy weather we didn't get to do any outdoors exploring but did take time between the rain drops to take some pictures. We are looking forward to making another trip here when the weather is nicer.

Stopped at Gaston Visitor Center - worth stopping by. Free, gives a history of the dam and the area.

This one big pile of concrete. Find out a lot of history of the area by taking the tour and going inside the dam. Surprised at the info behind the function of this massive structure. Didn't expect it but a highlight of our trip - and it didn't involve fishing!! LOL

We were unable to do the tour due to upcoming construction, so we just walked across the dam. The views overlooking the railings were great, especially on the river side. Beware of the large crows flying around, they leave droppings and feathers everywhere. If you go early in the morning you might be able to see fog over the White River- it makes for some cool photos! You can get awesome views of the dam from the observation deck at the Visitor's Center so be sure to make a stop there!

Beautiful. Great fishing not far, and one of the few dams that I know of that you can tour still. Very interesting. Will be going again with the kids soon.

The Arkansas state park is located along the White River below Bull Shoals Dam and Bull Shoals Lake formed above the dam. The James A Gaston Visitor Center is located on a bluff at one end of Bull Shoals Dam. From the decks of the visitor center (which is free) you have great views of the White River, Bull Shoals Dam, and Bull Shoals Lake. Don't miss the Johnboat Theater with a short movie about the history of the area, river, and dam construction.

Be sure to visit the Jim Gaston Visitor's Center beside the dam. An amazing place. There is no charge.

Our family went to the dam just to have something to do. We had a wonderful time there. The dam was very fascinating and huge. The welcome center was extremely clean and the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed walking around the dam.

The Dam itself was great for sight seeing. We were able to see both sides of the dam and surrounding areas. The Visitors Center was excellent! It had a short movie about the history of the dam, lake and river, as well as great exhibits. There was also a great explanation of the wildlife and variety of fish that are available. The Gift Shop was awesome!

We walked along the top of the dam and the views were fantastic! You could see the gar coming up for food from the bottom on the lake side. Fantastic Photo Opp!!

Great place for a visit. Lots of fun & educational info inside the James A. Gaston Visitor Center and beautiful view(s) from the observation deck. Had lots of fun using the binoculars in the "bird watching" area too.
