When it wasn't raining we were covered in dense fog. I think that made our hike through the lower trails off the promenade and up high near the overlook tower even better. The weather created an enchanted forest ambiance. Our only disappointment was finding that it cost $7 to go up the lookout tower-definitely not worth it in the fog (on a clear day maybe). Don't ever let the weather dictate your limits.

Great trails, clean water, well maintained park system. Everyone we met was extremely helpful and friendly. Would love to come back in the winter, but Spring Break was a great time to see the falls and explore the wildlife.

We liked every thing about the area. The mountains, the trees, the lakes, the rocks, the sunrises. Nothing to dislike about this area. We were in Hot Springs, AR for two weeks and went for a drive though the National Forest every day. The sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. We did not do any hiking but I think that would be a great activity in this area.

Lake Quachita has some of the cleanest water in America. The scenery is rocky and has beautiful shale rock. It is quiet and breathtakingly wild.

I did some trail walking while here in October. There is a very well maintained trail system. I would definitely ask someone's advice before beginning especially if you are a novice, as some of the trails can be steep. I could spend days on these trails exploring the hills.

We spent about 4 hours hiking through and got several great photos along the way. We truly enjoyed it. The hike is for intermediate level hikers, as there are some steep-ish areas to climb, but nothing too difficult.

We stopped at many tiny car parks along the hill top road to and from the observation tower as my elderly mother in law enjoyed sitting on a bench and enjoying the scenery while those that could still walk well could go explore the forests on foot paths all around. Picnic tables and other amenities near small car parks at scenic spots, but easy to walk a short distance into area where you see mostly trees and landscape.

This is a wonderful place to visit with lots of hiking trails, walking paths, driving routes,etc. Bond with nature as you travel through the beautiful trees and plants surrounding you everywhere. Campsites are available in various locations, and offer a chance to observe the forest at night as well. A beautiful area for families to vacation. Lots of native wildlife such as squirrels, birds, whitetail deer and even a few others such as possums, raccoons, etc. A wonderful nature experience.

We went to check out the waterfall and do a little hiking. It was about 7 miles on a NARROW dirt road. It seemed as if some of the park facilities were victims of budget cuts. Waterfall was just ok. No real WOW factor.

We stopped by the park ranger station to get a trail map and directions for the 8 mile loop off of the Appalachian Trail. They had absolutely no idea how to get to it or that it was not marked well. We asked a local for directions and he was able to get us to the loop. However, the trail was so poorly marked we opted not to do the loop as we didn't want to get lost.

Spent several days hiking the forest with our dogs. Trails were easy to navigate. I would say the most "extreme" trail was moderate which I believe they rated difficult. Was very easy to include our dogs on the trails as long as they were on their leash. Bring water AND a bowl for them!

Absolutely beautiful and a lot steeper than you think if you are a hiker! There are some great camping facilities and it is not crowded!

This review is not on the Little Missouri Falls, but on the way to get to the falls. We were on our Harley and decided to venture there. 8-10 miles of gravel road was how it was described. So, off we went from Mt. Ida, heading on 27 which turns into 8 to the falls. Turned left onto the gravel road. Started off "ok" but not great. And then a couple of miles into it and up a hill, we admitted defeat. The gravel is way too rough in places and we realized that we could get there, but would have to head back the way we came. As Tony said, probably good on a BMW motorcycle designed for this kind of terrain. We did see bear skat, so there have to be plenty of critters in the woods heading to the falls.

Beautiful Landscape, lots of things to do, boating fishing, camping, hiking but all I wanted to do was ride and that's what we did we rode though this wonderful area stopping for pictures and eye popping views. My only regret again is not having more time to just explore this fantastic wonderland that belongs to us all Americans.
