All and more, on a cold day go here and find out why how what and be tantalized by your intelligent predecessors who wait for you in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Lewis Mumford called this the cultural center town of the western world in 19th century, and it is all there for you to see feel and smell. Dont buy property unless you have scads, go to the CONCORD FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY.

The Concord library is conveniently located just a short walk away from the town shopping area. It is a pleasant place to find a book or to sit and read. The library owns a number of historical books from noted Concord authors (Emerson, Alcott, Thoreau, etc.)

I went in late August 2013 to do some research on my family's history in Concord and surrounding Massachusetts areas. Their special collections department is in the basement and has a good amount of historical research tools available. The only down side is that the staff are generally working on their own projects and tend to come and go, so you need to do a lot of the work yourself rather than rely upon them for assistance. When I asked about specific information, they were always obliging and went in the back to pull out special files.Another aspect that was an unexpected delight is their great children's section. A great many children's book authors have come through Concord and donated personalized artwork (check out the quilt at the entrance!).

The Concord Public LIbrary has all the perks of a regular library but with much more history than most! There is a lovely rotunda there that lets in wonderful natural light and is surrounded by busts of all of Concord's notables, including a full statue of a seated Emerson, done by Daniel Chester French, also a Concordian and sculptor of the Minute Man statue at the Old North Bridge and the seated Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. There's a lovely little reading nook completely stocked with works by Emerson and Thoreau. And the Juvenile section is lined with original paintings by N.C. Wyeth that are gorgeous. Also, do not miss the wonderful little diorama's of Concord scenes near the side entrance.

Beautiful building in a great location. Staff can be snooty at times-- they don't seem as eager to help as the staffs at Maynard and Acton.

The Concord Public Library is an excellent example of a small town library in Massachusetts. The workers are very nice. I use the special collections (in the basement) quite a bit. The special collections are very good compared to other libraries in the area. The children's room is very nice as well.

The historic front of the building has two amazing historic reading rooms (one with almost all of the Fine Arts books - the 700s), and there are three floors of stacks in the newer edition. The large children's reading room is adjacent to a very large selection of DVDs for free checkout (and you can place holds on any media that is checked out). A great resource!

I'm a little biased because a zillion years ago I went to high school across the street from the CPL. Still, all those years later I live ten minutes away and I still think it's the finest small library anywhere in Massachusetts. The architecture is stunning, the selection, the CPL's layout and its history, all of it combine to create the finest small library in the state. Only the famed Boston Public Library is better.

I am now 68 years old and have used libraries all my life, both as a casual reader and as an academic. This library tops all of the free public libraries I have ever used. The building is both comfortable and historic. The librarians are knowledgeable, polite, and helpful without fail. There are not only books--and if they don't have it they get it--but also CDs, DVDs, books on tape, a newsletter that keeps you up to date, and museum passes. I am enormously grateful to be able to order books online and just pop in to pick them up. Or, if I'm in the mood, to sit in one of the reading rooms for a time. I am also learning French online through their Mango offering. In addition, the Friends of the Library sponsor wonderful literary and musical programs. There are even bring-your-own picnic concerts outdoors in the summer. The Concord Free Public Library is a treasured community resoucre.

An awesome building filled with amazing literary treasures! The only sad part is how the upper areas of the rotunda are closed to the public.

Comparada com os padrões brasileiros, a biblioteca é show de bola. A arquitetura é uma gracinha, típica de um set de filmagem americano, e por dentro é organizada, limpa, diversificada e impõe respeito.
