Apparently some contributors are confused on the location. Long View Tower is at the beginning of the Mohawk Trail (2A) and unfortunately is no longer operational, no privately owned as residential. Years ago you could climb the tower and there was a little gift shop. This should not be confused with Poets Seat Tower located near the Greenfield Hospital. Long View Tower is defunct, like so many other wonderful attractions that used to be booming during the tourist seasons and especially the fall leaf peeping. Perhaps someday someone will revitalize this landmark.

The view from the tower is of the valley below and is lovely, especially at sunset since it mostly faces west. The walk up to it is a favorite for locals, with or without their dogs. There are benches along the way for those who choose to rest. The tower itself is open to the wind and the daylight, a fun climb for anyone who doesn't mind stairs and who enjoys a rewarding look at the tree-rich perspective on hills and valleys, as well as the town below. A bald eagle flew past us on our last visit!

If you like to hike, I'd recommend this local sight. Hoping people will stop putting their cigarette butts out in the tower.

This shakey tower has been closed for some time. Even when it was open I felt like I was taking my life in my hands going up the tower. It's too bad because the view is amazing!

Sad, but true. The Longview Tower seems not to be open any longer. Used to be a fun stop to stop and see the view and maybe even play some mini golf.

Long view shop-closed. Petting Zoo-closed. Leather shop-gone.And the tower is now home for a cell tower, so even when it was still open, access was limited to only 1/2 the tower. Maybe a resurrection is coming down the road, but no time soon.
