Don't miss this little gem when leaf peeping. The road is narrow & not well maintained but the view from the top is incredible. Sad to see some loitering and graffiti (I imagine it's hard to patrol regularly) and parking is limited but you can get a great view of the area and there are nice walking trails around it. Photographers paradise.

Easy to get to, great views of Greenfield and surrounding area. Multiple trails to hike depending on your ability.

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place while driving through Greenfield. Incredible view of the town and the panoramic view was breathtaking with autumn foliage!

Excellent view of surrounding area. Beautiful in the fall. Got some great pictures. And all for free.

The panoramic view provided by Poet's Seat Tower is amazing. It is a must visit during the fall, for the beautiful foliage in the area, with church steeples peeping through the fall leaves. It's the ultimate hilltop view of New England!

My husband and I have always loved this place. It's great to visit alone or as a couple. With a rustic feel, the hike is not too short or long from the car to the tower itself. My favorite time to visit is in the Fall with my camera where I've taken some really great shots (see below). It's definitely worth a visit! Not too far way are some other great attractions if you like to be outdoors and make a day of it--the Bridge of Flowers, Glacial Potholes (both in Shelburne Falls), and Mount Sugarloaf (near the Yankee Candle flagship store in Deerfield, also great) are within 30 minutes of each other. I've posted reviews to each. Coffee shops and restaurants are nearby in all cases. Enjoy!

We often walk up to the tower to enjoy the view and get exercise. We recommend it to visitors when asked what should they see. It's just a nice place to visit. Not hard to find or to get to. Like the paths and the stone benches to rest on. Often see people walking their dogs, or bike riding. Worth the stop.

I think you need to know something about what happened around the Tower that sits in the mind of someone whose family has lived in Greenfield since 1911...Just driving up then walking up the Tower Steps won't give you the depth that the view provides.... you see, the depth is not in the vision, it is in letting the mind go, to view, to anticipate, to live the surroundings.See the great winter toboggan runs down the hills, providing locals an outing in the 20s-30s. Watch the hospital grow, expand, providing hope, life and death to Greenfields residents.Drive up at night and see teenagers peer over the seats, these are the ones who could not afford tickets to the drive ins during the 50s.Watch the lonely person sit on a bench, trying to sort out a problem in their lives. Think about those who could not and committed or tried to commit suicide off the tower.Walk over the hill to view the other side as there are always two sides.... view the valleys, the river, the trails down the hill, walk in the steps of those who walked these trails over the centuries.Yes, I get it.... inspiration to those who have vision, like to write, like poets. Hey, let's build a tower. For a look at the town of Greenfield and its surroundings seehttp://www.mass.gov/eea/docs/dcr/stewardship/histland/recon-reports/greenfield.pdffor a discussion of historical sites and a "vision" from the Tower.

A great place to walk and sight see- also a good place to smoke pot. Local kids were there drinking beers and crushing them on their heads- which was a little strange. Then the children encouraged us to smoke some pot with them- really weird, right?? I dont know- I will absolutely come back!

It's usually kind of messy and looks unkept. There is little parking and as nice of a view as it is....well it is just Greenfield. If the view was at the actual peak overlooking both Turners, Montague, the Connecticut river and Greenfield I may be a little more impressed.

Any visit to Poet's Seat is uplifting. The flora & fauna are wonderful, the trails for walking varied & the view from the summit of Poet's Seat is guaranteed to please. Summer, winter or fall, a great place to visit.

This is a lovely viewing area with interesting hiking trails, an historic tower and comfortable benches for sitting. Unfortunately, years of vandalizing have taken their toll on the tower which detracts from the experience. Otherwise it is worth the stop.

Historic brick tower built in the mid 1800's on a hill overlooking Greenfield and Montague. Free access. About 65 steps (metal stairs) to the top. Unfortunately to learn about it I had to use Wikipedia... there is little on site to give its history. Lovely seating area over looking the valley. 5 minute drive to Hope & Olive for a great meal.We started our outing by going to the Peace Pagoda in North Leverett, which is really worth going to visit.

Beautiful stone tower sitting atop @500 foot hill giving clear views of Franklin County (Greenfield Area). Visiting the tower is free as is the surrounding hiking/walking paths.

It's a tower at the top of th mountain that overlooks the town. It's a nice view, and you could do some hiking around the area, but it is what it is. I wouldn't go out of your way for it, but if you're in Greenfield, it's worth a swing by.
