The "AVE" is pretty much a blighted area. Not the crusing spot it used to be 15 years ago...Some mom and pop bakeries, other than that, I don't bother

Avoid the street if possible, yes there are alot of odd and end shops but its always busy filled with traffice and double siding parking which makes it hard to navigate the street, good bars on it though

Acushnet ave is very good for Portuguese food and pastry. Also for the boutiques that they have . The bakery's have that good Portuguese bread that you can buy it as it is coming out of the oven.

dont go here unless it is in the far north end and then there is nothing but nothing is better than the southern section of this street. Beware

There is a very large selection of different small shops, restaurants and bar rooms along Acushnet Avenue. Some places are clean, some are fithy. A large diversity of nationalities are along this strip, weather it be the owners, employees or shoppers. The bus route does run along the avenue. It isn't the cleanest or best area and can be a little dangerous, especially at night.

It's a run-down old avenue with old businesses and old signs, but the food is great and you get a real sense of being somewhere else.

this is not a place you want to go to , ever!!! Nasty side of the city.

"The ave" as new Bedford natives call it is scary. It's a major hotspot for crimes of all nature, and an apparent haven for the homeless or otherwise insane. New Bedford in general is not the vacation you want. Although I gave it a two because if you are not afraid to navigate s ghetto new bedford has some amazing ethnic food. But you might witness a murder getting it. Good luck.

Are you kidding me? Acushnet avenue is about two miles of "we ain't got nuthin' to offer'. It's usually referred to by locals as simply 'The Avenue' which I believe is Latin for "Dump". The Avenue is frequented by drug users, prostitutes, homeless, and punk kids with nothing better to do then drive up and down the strip endlessly through all hours of the day and night. The city doesn't have enough police to monitor the area and frankly The Avenue is a pimple on Massachusetts' you-know-what. Granted there are a few good stores along the route, but it doesn't outweigh the trouble and filth. There are a couple of dress shops, bakeries and restaurants, but what major street in America doesn't have those things. There is nothing special about Acushnet Avenue, unless you're looking to get mugged.

My subject line says it all. The avenue is very busy and dirty. Let's see, there are bar's, pharmacy's Portuguese restaurants, antique store or two, bakeries, real estate offices, banks, church, gas stations, etc. You get the idea, nothing special about it.
